And now, The Wedding.
I must say - every movie ever made about any wedding at all is all true. Everything that could possibly go wrong in the preparations does - and then it all turns good in the end.
Now, I did not ask Mother Nature to interfere with its natural cycle, but it did. The cycle came early. About two days too early. Right on time, the bastard. Right after I had my hair done, as I was waiting for my family to pick me up and go to the actual place, I realized that I need to get to a pharmacy.
NOW.
My mother understood, but I had to deal with a van full of family asking: "Why do you need a pharmacy? Can't you wait until after the wedding? Maybe we have something!" Coming from, say, my uncle, that was not helpful. No, uncle, as much as I love you, this you definitely do not have. I am sad to say that the bride was in much the same condition. Well, we aren't sister for nothing.
Obviously, we got lost on the way there. Instead of an hour, it took us two. My uncle can't read directions worth a damn, my dad likes shortcuts too much, my mom and I can't read in the car, and my grandparents were too busy nodding their heads and saying "uh-huh" at my brother-in-law's mother's incessant talking. When I say "incessant", I mean she never once drew breath. The entire two hours. It was like background noise - the whole way there.
Finally, with a headache that could kill a horse, we all got there in one piece. My sister and her fiance were already there. The two changing rooms were quickly made into "ladies here; gents there" and the preparations began.
My sister did my make-up, since I never wear any, and you should have seen the proud expression on her face! With my hair up into a complicated mess of curls, my eyes lined with black eyeliner and lashes all black, and lipstick, I actually looked good. And when I put on the dress, everyone was floored. Allow me this moment of conceit, since I will never look the way I did then ever again. I had never looked like this - I hardly recognized myself.
Seriously, I looked GOOD.
But my sister was gorgeous. No meringue in sight - she had a beautiful dress, very tasteful and elegant, and she looked absolutely stunning. I think my mom might have cried had she not feared that her one eyeliner would smear.
I actually enjoyed myself immensely. I got to see Anya, my friend of 19 years, and we danced and talked and had way too much fun together. I got to see a lot of cool people. I got to see my sister ecstatically happy. It really was wonderful.
Weddings are usually rather distant, since so few people know each other. This one was different. There weren't a lot of people - and a lot of them were really great friends. Many prepared skits and games, which brought everyone even closer together as they laughed at the two newly-weds being ridiculed.
I feel like a sap saying all of this, but it was wonderful. Simply perfect.

They're not the best, rather small, but you get the gist of it...sorta...meh.
