A book meme! Because I haven't done a meme in a while, and I was waiting for more work. This is taken from multiple people.
1. What are you reading right now?
I am re-reading "Jane Eyre," believe it or not. It's quite a different experience from the 8th grade reading. Also, am plowing my through the seocnd Jasper Fforde book. God, why does it seem so much worse than the first one? Anybody explain?
2. Longest book you’ve ever read:
The goddamn f*cking "Atlas Shrugged." I still can't believe I plowed through the whole thing. Came out of it with very mixed feelings.
3. Strangest title of a book that you’ve read:
I'm not sure, actually. Oh wait, I am. "Moab Is My Washpot." Thank you, Stephen.
4. Stupidest ending of a book you’ve read:
*thinks* I'm not sure. I wasn't crazy about the ending of "The Eyre Affair" because it seemed forced and cheesy. Wish I could come up with a better one, though. My memory and I are at constant odds.
5. Which literary character have you related to the most?
Anthony MacMurrough of "At Swim, Two Boys", sadly enough. I am just that fucked up. But there's hope for me yet!
6. Do you prefer fiction or nonfiction?
Fiction.
7. Did you have a series of children’s/young adult books that you once enjoyed?
Oh God, dare I reveal the Russian translations of "Sweet Valley High" that I was given once, to "get acquainted with American life"? The most shocking thing I remember is that it was possible to use up all of the hot water in a house. That made me go O.O.
8. Can you enjoy reading the source book after seeing the screen adaptation?
Yes. I just try to put the images of the film out of my head. It's much harder to enjoy a screen adaptation after reading the book.
9. Have you ever read a novelization of a movie or TV show?
Yes. *headdesk* "Sabrina," of all things. It was AWFUL. Even at 13, I knew this.
10. Book that "turned you on" the most, erotically speaking:
Huh. Oh, I know. "Boys on the Rock" by John Fox. Short but excellent.
11. Is there a real-life person that you’ve read more than one book about?
Yyyyyess... (That was me hesitating.) Oscar Wilde, yes, would be the answer.
12. Book that everyone’s read but you:
The Narnia Chronicles.
13. Favorite "classic" writer/novelist:
Anton Chehov.
14. Favorite contemporary novelist (let's say 1950's on):
Favorite? It's a toss-up: Mikhail Bulgakov and Jamie O'Neill. (Yes, still, boys and girls.)
15. Favorite short story writer:
Chehov, once again.
16. Favorite columnist/journalistic writer:
I'm not sure, so let's go with Dave Barry, for the funny.
17. Favorite poet:
Walt Whitman, W.H. Auden, Dylan Thomas...
18. Favorite guilty pleasure book or series:
Wow, I'm stuck. I have no idea. I turn to television and film for my guilty pleasures.
19. Favorite book written by a famous actor or musician:
Um, "The Liar" by Stephen Fry, I think. Wait, do biographies count? Then "Moab Is My Washpot" by same.
20. Author whose work you once enjoyed but no longer do:
21. Favorite comics/graphic fiction author:
I actually have never read any. I know. I'm bad.
Ok, got work now.
