Er, what else did I mean to say... I kept thinking of stuff and then reaching the next really awesome line would knock my comment right out of my head. Oh, yeah. I liked that you remembered Dief (magically disappearing Dief amuses me, but yeah, heh) and even more I liked that it was funny, and in the right proportion. Too much being silly or two little and it ends up feeling not like the show; it can still be good, but it's not quite the same thing, and as somebody whose primary fic-reading impulse is "more show! with the stuff that didn't get shown!", that means a lot. Little things like Ray's comment about Fraserland or the brilliant line "Ray choked on a piece of lettuce and dinner was officially over" ahahha or Fraser keeping on talking in Ray's flat for, like, ages, in such a Fraser way... they're just so showlike and they make me laugh while also adding to the understanding of the sadder stuff, and just, yeah.
Oh, and also, one of the comments above had somebody mentioning that they had a bit of difficulty with Ray being so clueless about the crapness of Fraser's situation, and I kind of wanted to say that I didn't have that problem at all. Again, it seemed very show: on screen, yeah, Fraser's life by an objective standard sucks, but it's not played for angst. It's not all about how tragic his story is, and while it is clear that it's not all happiness and light, he doesn't act like it's all that bad and people respond in kind. So I could see Ray knowing it wasn't all sweetness and light but still not really ever having to think about what that might mean on a day-to-day basis. It's the difference between objectively knowing a fact about somebody and then seeing the impact that it really has on them: it's very difficult to really get it until you see it in action.

I love you, wifey.
