I don't get it. I mean, am I the only person in the world who's noticed that Barak Obama isn't black? He's bi-racial. I don't see why his election has prompted such an orgy of self-congratulation in America. ... Slaves were black. Barak Oboma (sic) isn't descended from slaves. He was born in Hawaii and raised by two white people. He looks like a skinny white guy with a tan.

Well, I'm glad somebody has finally come out and told us the what for! I mean, we've been so wrong, for SO LONG. I'm so glad that I've seen the light, now. I am especially glad that he came around just in time to tell all those black people that they shouldn't actually be as happy as they've been. I know that they, especially, needed a lesson in how race works.

Interestingly, that's like a massively more offensive version of what my dad was saying the other day- he was mentioning how Obama was bi-racial, and, like, not what one thinks of as "stereotypically black", and just...

I KNOW he's bi-racial, and all the family history and whatnot. But I just, I maintain that when people from Bumfuckville look on TV and see him, they think 'black guy'. Purely based on superficial perception, he's black. His skin. It is chocolatey. So the fact that he got elected is a huge historical racial deal because regardless of the nuances, he is The Black Guy.

My sister actually didn't notice Obama was black, because she works with a lot of black people, so the colour of his skin just didn't register with her. She was all, "Wait, he's black?" Apparently, one has to have dark chocolate/black coffee coloured skin to register with her.

Of course, she didn't say it in a trying-to-invalidate-his-blackness way, she just failed to notice his skin colour. I was kind of amused, in a disbelieving way.
