(no subject)

Today I was reminded why I was so damn reluctant to come back to this country.

When I got up, my had put on CNN. And, lucky for me, I walked in right as they were talking about a court case that might possibly cause gay marriage to be legalized in Massachusetts. The first announcer seemed to be pretty neutral, which is good. Then, they had a lesbian couple that's been together for 20 years. They raised children, have a family - hey, they're pretty settled. The guy asked them questions, and I'm sorry, could he have had MORE of a bias? The women mentioned financial security as one of the motivations behind wanting to have their union legally recognized, and the guys jumps at the chance: "So, you're saying that that is your main motivation, financial stability?" They were very polite and also noted that no, just having their family recognized as legally such would be a great thing. And then the guy goes: "Well, we know that marriage can change things. Do you think it might have a negative effect on your relationship, did you ever think about that?"

First of all, put away the guns, asshole, and stop feeling threatened in the presence of Big Bad Lesbians. Second of all, shut the fuck up, because these two women have been together for 20 years. They raised kids together. Do you really think that a legal marriage would scare them off? You ASSHOLE. What gives YOU the right to judge THEM? Who are you, a 25 year old family man? I have to point out, he looked young. He had absolutely no call to take that tone with them just because they would have never gone for him.

Just because you've been fed the same bullshit as half the country, doesn't mean it gives you the right to underhandedly attack innocent people just because they don't like dick. I hate that guy now. He ruined my morning.

And then I continued reading 'Fire From Heaven' and Alexander had to sleep with a girl. And that just pissed me off, because he has Hephaistion, and he loves Hephaistion, and here he had a girl being forced on him. And he DID sleep with her, and even though it meant nothing, he still DID, and that makes me sad. And I know he HAD to, but... but... *sigh*

Yeah. People suck sometimes.

Anyway... Just thought I'd vent. *sigh*

[livejournal.com profile] aneli8, looks like we'll have to meet again soon just so I can see a cool person. *hugs*

And today was just a bad day. Oh, well. There's always tomorrow.

Ugh, how pretentious and rude for a young man to question the stability of a 20-year relationship, just because the couple happen to be the same gender. He wouldn't have *dreamed* of questioning their relationship if it had been a man and a woman. Gah. *bangs head on desk*

You're absolutely right, he wouldn't have. I don't know what the fuck he was thinking, but it was just totally uncalled for. He really seemed to be passively attacking them. I mean, "did you ever think about that?" What kind of reporting is that?! Completely biased. Asshole.

*sigh*
