You know what?
I'm an ass.
Thank you all for the comments on my hair. They are very much appreciated. But I'm an ass. Why? Because, really, in the grand scheme of things, it SO doesn't fucking MATTER. And I am an ass for complaining about it.
Anyway.
Just thought I'd act enlightened for a couple of hours. It feels strange.
Mommy, what is that strange glow?! It's blinding me!..
And another thing. I tend to take people for granted - the closer I am to them, the more I take them for granted. I've done this for years, and have tried very hard not to do, yet I do it anyway. It's terrible and I hate that. Well, I wanted it to be known, that I have a very wonderful boyfriend. I'm saying it just because. Just because I need to. As soon as he calls in a few minutes, I will tell him the same thing. Because he is. And I take that for granted. So, well, just thought I'd make that announcement.
I also have wonderful friends, who send belated birthday greeting and inform you that their town sucks without me and make me tacky jewerly. Friends that promise to send me marmite from England. And, simply, friends that understand me better than even they realize. And, also, friends who hear little dings when seeing Moey's icon just like I do, and that is just the freakiest thing ever.
That is all.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

P.S. If you have read At Swim, Two Boys, you should hear "Reconciliation" by Ron Kavana.
rochefort had put it into the ASTB mix, and my God, she couldn't have found a more perfect song.
When summertime has gone and autumn winds are threatening
To blow our love away 'tis then love will be tested
Arm in arm we'll stand, side by side together
To face the common foe who would tear our love asunder
All ye fairweather friends, where are you now we need you?
Gone like the Autumn rains on dark December mornings
When hard times come around like dark and stormy weather
There's only you and I, my love, to shelter one another
Now there's a time to fight and there's a time for healing
As the sun will melt the snow on clear bright April mornings
Our fight has run its course, now's the time for healing
So let us both embrace sweet reconciliation
(You should also hear his version of 'A Nation Once Again' because it embodies MacEmm in ways I can't even describe.)

You deserve great friends because you are an extremely cool person.
And the lyrics . . . oh . . . my God. What else is on this ASTB CD? I need it.

But anyway... a few weeks... two, probably three... it'll be better... Oh God... Don't want to leave the house...
And as for the ASTB soundtrack:
1) "A Nation Once Again" - trad.
You HAVE to have that song, you know? It's THE song of the book!
2) "A Soldier's Song" - trad.
Martial Irish anthem, sung by the rebels at the GPO.
3) "The Shan Van Vocht"
Of the United Irishmen of 1798. She is 'The Poor Old Woman'. 'If Ireland might be a boy instead of a blowsy old cow, I'd be all for Ireland, I would.' ;)
4) "The Wind That Shakes The Barley"
Also of the year of the French. The lyrics are... well... quite something...

5) <a href"=http://www.contemplator.com/folk2/fenian.html">"The Bold Fenian Men"</a>
Hehehe...
6) <a href="http://www.makem.com/discography/recordings/lyricpage/johnnyihardlyknewye.html">"Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye"</a> - It's a slightly different version from the traditional ones, from what I understand. It's very creepy and...well, it gets to you. It's an anti-war song, and you could get arrested and sent to prison for 6 months for singing it in Ireland during WWI.
7) <a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/poetry/soundings/easter.htm">"Easter 1916"</a> - Yeats' 'Terrible Beauty'. This is a poem spoken to music. It's not the entire thing, but according to two really good sources, Doyler would have hated it. ;)
8) <a href"=http://www.makem.com/discography/recordings/lyricpage/foggydew.html">"The Foggy Dew"</a> - A song of the rising.
9) <a href="http://www.mary-black.net/disco/songs/405.htm">"James Connolly"</a> - A song about, well, James Connolly. JON joked about how he should learn it to sing in company, because it would sure beat a sad love song. I once sang this on a bus when we were coming back into campus. It was my birthday and I was drunk.
10) "Reconciliation" - well...yes.
11) "A Nation Once Again/Amhran na bhFiann (alt)" - this is...well. The lyrics are just the 'Nation' lyrics, but the way it's sung, the melody and the air...it's very much MacEmm, as <lj site="livejournal.com" user="rochefort"> put it: 'as an old man, remembering.' It's breathtaking. She was evil and put those two as the last songs on the CD. I cry almost every time.
These are wonderful, beautiful, and I forever grateful to <lj site="livejournal.com" user="rochefort"> for it. And it is 100% Genius Approved, as well.
I think Ron Kavan does most of these... if not all... (except for 'A Nation Once Again', the first one. He does the second one.)
I'll try to find, once more, which CD she took them from... BUt if you have a chance, download them. Seriously. And make sure that 'Reconciliation' is right before the alternative version of 'A Nation Once Again' for the big emotional whammy...

(Heheh. Love you, wifey darling - honestly, like everybody doesn't have their petty moments. I bet even, like, Jesus stressed about his acne or something. Of course your haircut doesn't matter in the scheme of things, but it hardly makes you the world's biggest arse for complaining about it.
And OMG, those LYRICS. I need, need, neeeeeeed to download that song. Dude.)

Jesus worrying about acne? That's really quite amusing, actually... :-P
And you SHOULD! Do it now!
I love you, very much. *MWAH!*
