It's...a miracle!
I am typing from my own computer. Oh my God. It's a miracle. Of course, I can only do this at school for now, but it's MY OWN COMPUTER. MY OWN. I am typing on...MY OWN COMPUTER! No more having to send files to myself in order not to lose them! No more deleting files in fear of the next user finding them! It's mine! MINEMINEMINE!!!
As a starter, I am FINALLY downloading 'And Still', so I can read it in the comfort of my own home. It is the first R/S story that this computer will have seen. Ah, the innocent baby. It'll see plenty more where that came from. Bwahahahahahahahaha!
(Marta's art will be next, mark my words.)
This also means - and I am BESIDE myself with that - I get to have my own wallpaper! And what wallpaper!
immovablemover made this absolutely gorgeous 'At Swim' wallpaper and promised it to me when I got this computer. Darling, can I have it now? (The resolution is 1024 x 768, by the way.)
And, finally, in more good news, I dropped my class and just returned my books for - drumroll please - 120 dollars. I picked the right class to drop. And now I don't have to get up at the same time as the goddamn crickets. (One of them found its way into Sam's bag last night and chirped the whole night from there. They will turn us out before we know it. I hate those fucking things. And yet I still can't bring myself to kill them...)
(I'm sorry, but I still can't get over the fact that this is my own computer. Oh, the glee!)
Things are generally looking up, from all sides, it seems. Let's hope it continues this way. And I love my French film professor. He is just...the coolest. There are not enough words to describe the cool. And the nice. And the funny. And the cool. Did I mention the cool? The only complaint I have about this class is all the idiots that are taking it. If you don't like film - besides 'XXX' or 'Fast and the Furious' - then just fucking leave, because if you think you're being 'smart' or 'funny', try again. You're just being a jerk, and so far, only the other jerks are laughing. Do yourself a favor and grow the fuck up.
But the professor is reallyreallyreally cool.
And I STILL can't get over this. I haven't had my own computer since May 2002, and that was a piece of crap. This is good. And it's ALL. MINE.
(Watch as it breaks on me...)
Anyway. Yes. My own computer. Connected to the rest of civilization. It'll take me a while to get over. And my mother's not even looking over my shoulder or telling me to get off. Oh my God. This is almost heaven.

I still kiss my screen saver every time I shut it down, in hopes it'll reboot in the morning.
You are simply adorable. *hugs*

I squirm every time you mention sharing your house with insects. Kill the little blighters. Or get a cat.

Hear, hear! And even there, there! I am very very excited. It's a bit of a pain, taking out all the cables and whatnot, every time I want to use it, but SO WORTH IT. I already changed my LJ settings. Hehe.
You know, we try to take them outside, but it is so difficult to catch them! They hide, they hop, the jump - they're very very slippery that way. Very annoying, too. The worst thing, actually, is when you wake up in the middle of the night and hear three separate crickets chirping all around you. We're hoping that when winter hits, they'll just die out. Here's hoping...

I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes from it:
"Jim knew this man's heart was deep and true, for he made Jim wish for an equal love and an equal truth in his heart. He was swept by the great desire to take hold Doyler's hand and tell him in his ear, That's how I think of you, that's exactly how I think of you."
How beautiful. Gonna cry....=)

And as for the Forty Foot - it's in Dun Laoghaire (well, Sandycove, really) which is in the south of Dublin. To get there, you take the Dart train from Connolly station (or any other that has Dart trains) down to Sandycove. When you come out from the station, you find yourself on the street that, if you follow it to your right, will turn into Glasthule Road...
