Can you dig it?
First of all:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
edeainfj!! I hope it's a wonderful day and year for you, and that your present arrived or will arrive soon safely - consider it a birthday gift! *g* Many wonderful returns to you! :D
~*~*~*~
Anyone else seen 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico'? I saw it last night, and while it was way too fucking bloody for me (sorry, but I can't take it, I just can't do it), it was pretty silly as a whole. BUT - and this cracked me up for than anything - Johnny Depp was explaining the plan to somebody, and finished it with: "Savvy?"
aslksld;asld
Yeah, really. Also, he was very sexy. Of course. (But he was missing eye-liner... and, towards the end, well... don't want to, er, spoil it.)
Alas, I cannot talk like a pirate, although I got an amusing email from
skels today full of great pirate-talk, so that was my share for today.
ARRRR, MATEY!
Yeah, that's about all I can do. I'm a pathetic pirate.
~*~*~*~
I was in the library elevator the other day and quietly cracking up at the writing on the door. There was a great assortment of LoTR love, such as:
"Frodo lives!" (well, yes)
"Smeagol lives!" (good for you)
"Arwen lives!" (this was the most mind-boggling to me)
"Legolas rules!" (indeed!)
and, of course, my favorite:
"Gandalf the Gay"
Apparently, there are amusing people in this school. I really should make their acquiantance.
And speaking of the library, I finally got to take books out of the library yesterday, and was practically bouncing up and down as I showed them to Sam.
I got out Mary Renault's "Friendly Young Ladies", Alexander Chee's "Edinburgh" (upon your influence, of course), Andre Gide's "The Counterfeiters", a biography of Mary Renault (with pictures, too!) and a book about the correspondence between Oscar Wilde and Andre Gide. Now tell me that isn't cool. I felt a bit like Hermione, actually. I got them all for a bit of 'light reading', while I got a few strange looks as I carried them across campus with me. I'm such a dork. Sam asked me if it was for the next two days. I said that maybe the next two weeks.
"Ah, so you're pacing yourself."
Heh. Yeah.
~*~*~*~
Finally, I made two more icons and they're up for grabs. They're both 'At Swim' icons, both of Jim - I used JRM as Jim, as is now the way. Heh. Here they be:
and
The quotes I wrote from memory, so they may not be totally accurate. If anyone has their book handy, feel free to let me know, I'll fix them. I need to stop making icons, but it's just so much fun! I'll keep on doing it, too. I'm not afraid. I just wish I could find Doyler, but I have an idea, so... bwahahahahaha!
And that's it. Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day, ye scallywags! ARRRRRR!
ETA:
I made a new icon. The credit for finding this picture goes to
mombi_of_oz. Isn't it perfect? Isn't it all you wanted? Isn't it all you need? I decided to use it, but anyone else that wants it can, too, if you wish. I'm up for sharing. Heh.

*sigh*

*MWAAAAAAAH*
(As for Doyler, it isn't quite DOYLER, I found, as a picture I used...well, you'll see. In a few minutes, I swear!)

Yeah, yeah, yeah :-P I know... Heh. I think you're right about them, though. I see it as J&D after the Muglins... when Jim has more confidence - like when Doyler describes them going to mass and... and... I'm going to shut up now. But that's how I see it, too. :D
You shouldn´t do that, it can get pretty scary in there, darling.
You haven't been inside my head. I think we're pretty much even. Really.
Yes, I believe it was! I loved it!

I haven't had a chance to tell you, I found someone who might be a MacM – unfortunately, it's Lord Lucan. But he's got the moustache, was a notable athlete, was of Irish extraction and was handsome enough to screentest for Bond when Connery chucked it, apparently. He's here – what do you think?
Who's your Doyler, then? Arrrr!

You know, I could sort of see it. The mustache is a bit too mushy to be MacEmm's, but otherwise...hmm... Are there any other pictures of him? I'll have to look...
Doyler - sadly, I haven't ACTUALLY found a Doyler, BUT there's a picture that I'm using...just made an icon... I like it so much I want to keep it. But I can share! Heh. I'll put it up in a few minutes!

It's a great picture. I hate to see any of it wasted. Arr.

It is a fantastic picture - JON thought it might have been a Van Gloeden study, actually. Which, incidentally, MacM compared Jim to. Ahhh...

LOL!! It must be a cool door.
Lovely icons! Again ;-). You found Doyler???? So, I'm guessing you'll be making more avatars soon.
I can't talk like a pirate.
But Savvy!
Johny Depp is the best ever! Melts...

Johnny Depp is awesome. And so - damn - sexy. Arrrrr.

I haven't seen the movie, so I'm not sure about this, and I hate to be a party-pooper, but I'm wondering... as it's set in Mexico, is Johnny's character Hispanic? Because the word "sabe" in Spanish (which is pronounced with a soft b that could be mistaken for a v) means "know." If he's speaking a bit of Spanglish, then "sabe" said at the end of the sentence could tack on a sort of "do you know" or "you get it."
But like I said, haven't seen it, so I may be totally wrong in context. It could just as easily be a Pirates homage, and I think that would hysterical. :)

Okay, I think I'm taking the one on the right. Yes, I like that quote. *sigh*
I love the one you used of that picture though, which kind of reminds me! I posted it at that boytouching community, and pimped "At Swim" and at least like five people had read it! :D Very cool.
Kay. Tah!

Heh. Right after the promo for "Chosen" (the Buffy series finale, if you don't watch) I was skimming the TWoP boards, and someone there applied this nickname to Willow's Good!White-Haired!Willow moment. It cracked me up. Gandalf the Gay, indeed.

I actually went because Orlando was in it, but it was Depp who had me captivated. What a great performance!
