On The Marriage of True Minds. Two Pervy Minds.
It has happened.
aneli8 and I have met. We have corrupted a Barnes & Noble children's section by spending three hours in it, talking about writing, writers, slash, R/S, R, S, and everything in between. Yes, I mean that literally.
I daresay we must have scared away a few customers, but there were no children around, so we're redeemed. Sorta...maybe. I don't know.
I don't care!
It was fun and great and all that good stuff. *snuggles
aneli8*
Oh, and you might wonder why we ended up in the Barnes and Noble children's section, and the answer is quite simple - 'warmth' and 'seats'.
We talked about you all, too. Hehehe, I just really wanted to say that.
In other news, I am hyperventilating. I was sitting at my computer just now, and it happened. It hit me. Like the proverbial bludger to the head.
I'm fucking leaving. I'm going away alone. I will not see a familiar face for...for...jesus christ!!!!!!!!!
Is it just because it's so late that I'm reacting to this so badly? Is it real panic? I don't think I can do this! I mean, I know I can do it physically, but...my God. It's just so big. (Anna, I don't want to hear it. I know what you're thinking. Oh, yes, I do.)
I'm really making a big deal out of nothing, right? ...Right?
Ok, I think I have actually calmed down now.
Shit.
Well, that was wholly unpleasant. The real panic happened to hit just as I was reading a long-awaited email, too, which makes it twice as bad.
*sigh*
I'm better now. I think.
And now, just to feel a bit better...
PART 1
Your Pseudonym: Mrs. Ron Weasley (a.k.a. Arianrhod)
How long have you known about/read/written fanfiction? Less than a year
What fandom(s) do you read/write/are you involved in? Harry Potter
Who is/are your favorite character(s) and why? Absolute favorite is Remus. I'm all about Remus. Sirius is very close, as are a few others... *cough*
Do you identify with certain characters? Which one(s)? Honestly?.. I don't think so...or I just can't think of anyone at the moment.
What type/genre of fanfic do you read/write? I only write het. Slash is groooooosssss...ewwwwwwwwwww...
Why do you read/write fanfiction? Please give details! Because it's fun and it's good practice if I ever decide to make my life miserable and attempt to make a living out of it...
Do you read official novel adaptations of TV shows? If you do, how do they compare? Please give details. I don't and don't really want to...
What are your favorite subgenres and why? Sub-genre?.. *blink* Well-written fics.
Is there any kind of fan fiction you wouldn't read? Rape, violence, incest, adult/child (under 16-17), H/H.
PART 2
Do you prefer to read fanfiction online or in zines? Definitely online. *huggles computer*
Are you a member of a mailing list? Yes, a few.
If yes, do you participate actively on the list or do you prefer to 'lurk'? I used to be very active in a couple, but have now reverted to lurkdom, mostly. But a very active lurkdom. Ummm, sort of...
How actively are you involved in your fandom(s)? Well, pretty actively, I think. It's something to do with free time...
Do you know other fans personally? Yes, a few and they're all awesome.
Do you have friends who read/write fanfiction? One of my RL friends used to write X-files fanfiction when she was younger. She understands. *G*
Do you talk about fanfiction with your friends and/or family? Not the slash part, but my family actually does know about it, as well as a few friends. Actually, three (!) know about slash. But I don't really talk about it - it's just something that I do that they know about.
How intensely are you involved with fanfiction/the fan community? (time, effort, etc.) Heh.
Do you attend conventions? If you do, how often? No, but there are the summits... :)
PART 3/1 - READERS
Do you send feedback regularly? If not, what does motivate you to send feedback? Oh, dear... I used to do it more than I do now. I still have to review a few things... What motivates me? Only good writing. I can't really comment on a story that I didn't particularly like - I would feel the need to be completely honest, and I don't want to offend anyone. Like I've said before, chances are, if you get a review from me, you've done something very right.
Do you like to read AU stories? Not really, but I do love "Clubbing"...
PART 3/2 ... WRITERS
How important is feedback to you? I hate this question...it makes me a hypocrite, because I don't send feedback as often as I should, but...I love it. It makes my day. I want to know that my stuff motivated someone enough to push a button and say "Cool!". Longer reviews are, obviously, better... Yes. I am a feedback whore. But it doesn't mean that I'll stop writing if I never get any again - it's not about reviews. They're just a very nice bonus.
Would you write even if you didn't get any? See above.
Do you reply to every feedback/fanmail you get? Yes, mostly. I really try to, because if someone made enough effort to read my story and then even review it, I want to extend the courtesy.
Do you have your stories beta'd before you post them? If you do, do you think the comments/suggestions of a beta reader help you to improve your writing style? I didn't have a beta until a few months ago, and that was a mistake. Now, I can't imagine posting something without her comments. She is amazing, and picks up on everything that I wanted to say. I do feel like my writing's improved, at least a little, because of her. Go Anne. :)
In your favorite fandom, what are the major differences between canon and fanon?
I have quite a few issues with fanon. If there's canon to be referred to, then, please, for the love of God - refer to it. Don't make shit up. It won't work. The major differences? Canon will always be infinitely better than fanon, simply because it is JKR's world - and she knows it best.
Have you ever worked as a beta reader?
Yes. I hope I help.
If you beta, how frequently do you do that?
Now, I'm doing it regularly at the Quill. Before, it was here and there, not too often.
What is your primary motivator for accepting a beta reading assignment?
I have to know that the writing will be good. This can't be guaranteed when new people are sending stuff in, but when someone asks me and I know that person... I can't beta unless I know I won't have to stop in the middle and try to get my brain back into some semblance of order. Unless I absolutely have to.
PART 4
Sex: Female
Age: 20
Occupation: Student (Slacker)
Place of residence: In between, really...
Describe/define your neighborhood: Nothing exciting right outside...
Ethnic background: Jewish, Russian-born
Favorite movies: "L.A. Confidential", "Sense and Sensibility", and lots and lots of others that I simply cannot remember at the moment, argh...
Favourite books: "Harry Potter", "Ragtime", "Steppenwolf", "Boys on the Rock", "At Swim, Two Boys", "The Anatomy Lesson", "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "Doroga Uhodit v Dal'", the trilogy by Frida Vigdorova, and tons of others I can't remember, still
Favourite music: Really favorite? Tom Waits, Loreena McKennitt, Live, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, after that - a loooooot of random stuff
Sexual orientation: To borrow Houie's phrase, "omnisexual"
Do you consider yourself an intellectual? Yes, but that's because I'm a pretentious bitch.
I daresay we must have scared away a few customers, but there were no children around, so we're redeemed. Sorta...maybe. I don't know.

*huggle*
If I'm wrong about all that, then you can STILL know that there's lots o' love sitting here in the states that will follow you wherever you go. I mean, for the way we talk right now, it'd make no difference if you were in England or New York. See? Friends will follow, friends will be just a click of the mouse away, and friends can and will be made quickly (I'm living proof of that right now.)
Feel better...like you make me do:-)
Re: *huggle*
*slap* I mean!... No, but siriusly - I know you're right. I know you are, but the fact that time is, um, running out is just catching up with me - it's just 8 days away. Eight!!!! Ahem, but anyway - I am very happy to hear that you will only be a click away, just like now. That part won't change, you're right. :) And I will meet people. I will. Yes. And I do feel better. Still scared, but better. :D
*huggles back*

*nods* Did you read the last Remus/Siriusa? What a hot chick she is, that Siriusa... :)

well, we tried being quiet...but i can't help but think that a few phrases with the word "cock" and "up the ass" must have slipped out...heee... We did have a great time, though - at least, I did. ;) Can't really speak for Anna, after all. ;)
YES, internet is a bloody wonderful thing!! i don't think i could do this if i didn't have the support system here. i'd miss you all, too.
yes, i'm writing - hopefully, will be done within the next few days... i sent it off to be read (it's not finished yet, though) - for general comments, like "this sucks, go to hell", or similar. :P
