Hurrah!
It's my Wifey's birthday! Rejoice! Exactly 19 years ago, an adorable, blond, geeky and extremely wonderful girl came into being, and that is what we are celebrating here today!
(Mind you, I had to wait for the little craxhead to go to bed to make this announcement: woman, WHAT are you doing at 3:30 in the morning?! Sheesh!)
In an earlier entry, she asked: why do people celebrate birthdays? That's a good question, and now I will answer it, at least for her: because I love you. And because celebrating the day of your birth, albeit 19 years later, is a way to acknowledge that it is a more special day than any other day, because it brought you into this world. Because it is a day on which I'm allowed to lavish you with love and be even more justified in doing so than on any other day, and because it is a day that YOU can take and demand the attention that you so rightly deserve. Because it is a day to celebrate your existence, and because it is a day when you are entitled to all the love you can get, which is a lot, knowing some of the people that love you. You are wonderful, beautiful, brilliant, geeky and dorky, and, more than that, you have one of the biggest and most generous hearts of any person I've ever met, and for all these things, I love you. I cannot wait to see you in less than two months and hug you for all you're worth, because, well, because you're Katie.
Happy Birthday, sweetie, and may it be a happy, sunny day!
