mrsronweasley: (my life)

(no subject)

I had every intention of going to bed, and even turned off the computer. Thus, this post has no point whatsoever except to say that my mother is most likely the only person in the world, except for perhaps my grandmother and Thom Filicia, who can make a fitted sheet fold thinner than a normal one. A can of spray starch and an iron are her best friends. In fact, her Soviet roots go so deep, she irons everything except for socks and jeans. Please note that underwear did not, in fact, make the short list of exceptions.

Ok, now I'm really going. Good night.

*shivers* I HATE!!! ironed underwear. My mother used to do it too. Awful, awful, awful... gah.

does she also put so much starch on your bedcovers that they are so crisp you think they might fall to pieces when you crawl under them?

Yes! I hate that! It drives me nuts! My mom loves it because it's all smooth and clean, but it's just so...uncomfortable. Yuegh. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I iron my underwear sometimes in the winter on dry so that I can warm them up. Also useful is the oven, on a low heat, and occassionally the microwave.

Italian people don't iron things, I've noticed. Rather, we like to have at LEAST 4 limp sheets on our beds, and 4 comforters in addition. This way, we can make ourselves a little messy fabric nest.

See, that I can understand. But not doing it all the time, because there is absolutely NO point to ironing underwear except to warm it up in the dead of winter. But my mom does it to IRON THE UNDERWEAR. Like I said - Soviet roots are deep.

And I like the Italian way muuuuch better. ;)

First let me say that I love your icon... that's my computer! Yay!

Second, it must also run in Hispanic families, though my mother doesn't do it, her mother does. Never will understand the need to iron my underwear, but oh well.

Laughed my ass off at this post as I constantly find myself saying, I'm going to bed now... type, type type...LOL

Oh, oh, I'm glad it's not only crazy Russians! It's all sorts of crazy people! Isn't it weird? I'll never understand it either, only in light of OCD.

And, well, that's how online life goes...heh.

hehe! that's so adorable. I wish my mom and grandmother had eclectic roots that gave them slightly odd habits.

and mmmmwarm undies and clothes. I'm a big fan of the dryer in the winter as well. *nods*

LOL, I suppose it IS adorable. In a really funny sort of way. :-P Yes, a dryer in the winter is a nice thing. Enjoy it while you can! ;)

Ironing underwear? Uh, okay.

I am the total opposite of your mother, I guess -- generally, I don't iron ANYTHING. >.<

I know this Swedish housewife who is against softeners for some reason. (Ugh. Dunno if they're called softeners or something else in English. The liquid you put into the washing machine to make the fabrics soft.) Anyway, to make up for the lack of softeners - I don't understand this reasoning, btw - she irons EVERYTHING. Yes, that includes socks and jeans. EVERYTHING that comes out of the washing machine gets ironed.

I hate ironing, so I really don't understand these kind of people :s
