Today is the day...

...that I celebrate my 2nd "slash" anniversary. Yes, it was around this time two years ago that I came across a little story with a vast future. To this day, I get giddy thinking about "A Boys' Own Camping Adventure" by GrimSlasher, the team behind the magic.

Since then, many things have happened. I will not bore you with all the details that most of you already know anyway, but suffice it to say that my life would be much, much more boring and shitty without those that I have found through slash. I mean...the mind boggles. Case in point - I met arborealis on the Quill through the fact that he had a signature quoting canis_m. We talked, we got to know one another, and a month later, I had a book recommendation sitting in my inbox. The rest, of course, is history.

I could babble on and on about it, really, but I'll spare you since I have very little time before I'm off to see RotK for the second time. I find that celebrating a slash anniversary with a healthy dose of Hobbit Love is really quite fitting. *g* Tonight my reading will consist of much-read and much-loved Puppy Love.

I think that I might end up waxing poetic about it later, anyway. So you might want to skip that entry if it isn't to your liking. :p

Wow, you saw it as a WiP?! I can't even imagine that! Woooow... Yeah, those were the days. It DID make absolute perfect sense, and it's one of those stories that you just can't ignore. It was there, man. It was all there.

And we had to wait and wait and wait to see if they'd stay together and whether Sirius would make up for being a total git and what James' reaction would be, which we never really learned anyway.

They posted once on the hpslash list saying there was an nc17 version of the tent scene but I've never seen it.

True Sirius form! My favorite part, though is when he does the "honorable thing" and jumps in the icy river. I kept repeating that sentence to myself over and over, while I walked to classes, while I reread it... it never failed to crack me up. Just too fucking funny.

"Is Sirius missing ALL of breakfast, then?"

Ah, I could go on forever. And "LATR" was wonderful, too. The perfect blend of poignancy and humor and sex without it ever sliding into unnecessary sentimentality. Gotta love GrimSlasher. The slash world needs more people like them.

I know, it's crazy! And that's my slash anniversary - I found the fandom in October of 2001. Man. Crazy times... BOCA rocks. I can't imagine not having that story around, it's just such a classic. Mmmmm...boys camping... Canis's stuff I found a bit later on, actually. Well, like about a week later, but still. Heh. Oh, what a discovery that was. Such good memories...
