For clarification purposes only.
The entire SBRL list is not to blame for yesterday's Uber!Wank. It was one person. One person who, as she claims, was saying all of this "tongue-in-cheek," though whether or not you buy that is your own decision. Yes, it was a stupid discussion. And the reason it GOT so much feedback was BECAUSE it was a stupid discussion. People simply could not believe that something as pathetically unimportant as "the end" or - gasp! - "fin" or "finis" got so much anger out of somebody. Not to mention that she was running a high risk of offending people who do it for various reasons that do not include being 8 years old, "pretentious twats," or not listening to their primary school teachers when they had the chance. (I don't remember this rule at all, and I think I turned out all right. With the minor offense of 'fin,' of course. Then again, maybe Russians do it differently. Did Tolstoy ever put 'the end' in "War and Peace"? Now there's a book that desperately needs it.)
The circumcision thread went out of control because people felt the need to put more input than had been called for, but you know what? As long as they had fun, who's to say it's unimportant? Live and let live. I personally found it hysterical.
The canon vs. fanon discussion - I don't know about that one, I missed it, since I've had the list on nomail for over seven months now, and forget to check it often.
I used to love the SBRL list, it used to be my slashy home. That was...over a year ago now, too. But that's ok. Now it's time for others to step in and make it their home, and whether or not anybody else agrees, it's a free place, moderated only by ONE person. Eclia started this list all of four years ago now, and it's been growing monumentally. Back when I was active on it, it had 700 members on it. Now it's 2000. Give it a bit of slack. (Ha! I just typed 'slash'. Indeed.) If people are so adamant about it sucking, instead of berating the entire list, why don't they step in and offer to help Eclia moderate? She is one person - one person with a life. She may not always get there in time, because she is probably not online 24 hours a day. Discussions can get out of control before they're put a stop to, and some may be axed right away. Just because fin/the end discussion wasn't stopped right away, doesn't mean that anybody approved of it.
It was STUPID. That is why it got FANDOM_WANKED. But give the list a break! People were just standing up against pathetic whining, that's all. It is usually, in fact, one of the nicest and flame-free lists out there, save a crackhead or two.
I haven't been active on the list because my interests have veered a bit. Not as far as R/S goes, but as far as what I'd want to do with it. I don't read most stories on there, I admit, because I forget to go there. I know a lot of them are crap. But there's crap everywhere. There is also good stuff there, I am certain, and just because one or two or five people there support the use of such asanine nicknames as "Remy" doesn't mean the entire list does. There are fantastic writers who still belong to the list, and who appreciate it for what it is - the mother-load of R/S to your heart's content.
So, people went a little nuts. It happens. It was January 3rd - hangover time.
Give me a break. And yourselves, too. I got pissed off at the 'fin' thing myself because it was stupid and I was part of the "cult of 'fin'". So, what. It was just one person. Get the fuck over it.

And considering that there are 2,000 members, it's amazing that this is the first time the list has made it to fandom_wank. Not like those followers of other pairings *cough*Harry/Draco*cough* who are pitching fits and falling into them every 30 seconds.
Get the fuck over it.
More words to live by. Thanks again for saying all this.

Anyway, I haven't read the SBRL list in a long, long time (yes, I am a member, shut UP) because... well, quite frankly, it got boring. It started to be not about them and more about people being stupid and all. I still read the fic once in a while, I'm just lazy about it.
I hate the nickname Remy, or Remie, or any permutation, by the way. And freaking out over 'fin' is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The end. Heh.

The first person to use blanket statements on a list containing 2,000 very individual people LOSES.
RULE #2:
The first person to use a blanket statement about a list containing 2,000 very individual people ALSO LOSES.

*sigh*
Okay, it will probably seem totally silly, but I just wanted to jump on this occasion to say how much I miss you and all the 'old pack' on the SBRL.
Don't misunderstand me : I also like the new crew. It's just that, sometimes, I can't help being a bit nostalgic, especially after what happened lastly.
I miss you, Canis M., Dawnatello, Ithica, LunaFille and all those other talented writers that made me fall into PuppyLove :'-/...
Haa, nevermind.
I hope you're fine, and I wish you a happy new year :-)

O.O Really ?
God, I didn't know! I thought most of them had leaved the fandom and the web, for more or less pleasant RL issues :-(. Well, I'm happy I was wrong, then ! I was a bit worried about them.
Must find them, now *_* ! (My preciousssss old pack!)
Have a nice day :-)
