On Walking and Singing.
Well, life has been coming along quite nicely so far, apart from a few scheduling and course hitches.
Last night I went to a meeting of the university's drama society (and I blame you, by the way), and had a great time talking to new people. I talked one boy out of going to Long Island next year (he's going to be doing an exchange, and that was, obviously, one of the options). My study abroad office would not be proud. But I don't care. He would hate every minute he spent there, and I couldn't do that to someone. So, his choices are now either New Orleans (not bad at all!) or Berkeley (even better!). Oh, yes. I'm quite proud. ;)
I cannot believe I'm going to audition for the musical. I stink at acting. If they only have a singing part, that'll be great, otherwise, I'll embarrass the hell out of myself. But it sounds like fun... and... and... I really want to meet people... and... ummm... yeah. *sigh* Damn.
Today, I was finally able to go grocery shopping properly - I finally got that stipend check (or, pardon me, cheque). Oh, thank god for food. Lovely, lovely food.
Oh, and last night, I met someone who must be the most cynical person on the planet. Also, one of the most closed-minded. What I still don't understand is why, exactly, he was at a drama society meeting. We talked about poetry (he hates poetry, even though he says he can write it; he doesn't really like Shakespeare or Byron, but believes that there is nobody better and so, is unwilling to read more. I mean, of course, they're the only poets in the history of poetry!). We talked about Britain ("What do you mean, British culture? What, the drinking?" *sigh* No, I'm interested in the whole society, the history behind it, and everything surrounding it. That was my answer to 'why are you here?' He isn't British, so I asked why he was here, since he didn't like it so much, and his answer was "I'm from Pakistan." Ok. Ummm...all right...) Oh, and we talked about America ("Well, you don't have the real American accent, when people say 'like' every other word." Yes, because all Americans do that. Every single one. I've heard them.)
By the end of the conversation, I was so frustrated (how can I explain what reading does to me to someone who isn't even willing to listen?), that we sort of stood there awkwardly, and went our separate ways.
Oh, but you know that you've found the right people when your exclamation of "I'm reading 'The Picture of Dorian Grey' right now!" is followed by dreamy sighs and utterances of "oh, it is soooooo good..."
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!...
And, I love Brighton. It's wonderful. You should all visit, because it's fantastic, and I'm betting it'll get even better as I discover more. Ahhhhhhh...
And I finally figured out what my address is. Took a while, but I've done. I'm so proud.
Soon, I am off to some International Students party. We'll see how that goes...
Over and out.

Glad you've got food in. Cheques ROX. That dude, though, sounds just... umm... well, WTF? sums up my reaction best I think.
Yaaay for Wilde! Yaaay for you liking Brighton! Hope your party's fun. :)
