On Emails.

This is the pique of my laziness. I know that I owe a couple people emails. I have not forgotten. I promise. And I will answer as soon as I can. I mean it this time. Seriously. And I'm hitting my head against the keyboard right now, a la Dobby. But it will happen.

And, speaking of which, percy_weatherby, did you finally get my email this morning? I tried, like, four thousand times, and it kept coming back as a failed delivery. I'm assuming that you finally got it, but I just want to make sure. Because I'm paranoid like that... *exasperated sigh* (It should have contained the bio for the website and one other picture.)

Ok, so I'm not really that lazy, I'm just very very anxious to get back to this book I'm reading. I haven't been this anxious since "At Swim, Two Boys". Yeah. Dude. (Although I don't know if it'll leave me quite as destroyed as that one, it definitely is hitting a nerve. Oh, most definitely.)

In other news, I found out some cool trivia. Oscar actually invented the name Dorian himself, after the Dorians of Greece. They were a small Hellenic tribe which invaded Greece, but while the other tribes which invaded Greece were eventually absorbed into the peoples of the country, the Dorians remained culturally and linguistically seperate from the Greeks.

I thought the symbolism was interesting. ;)

That's really interesting - but then again, do we expect anything less from Oscar Wilde? Exactly. ;) Did you know that the character of Sybil Vane was not in the original manuscript? They made him put her in there. That's why the parts with her in it read sort of...strangely...at least for me. It seemed that his heart just wasn't in it. It wasn't real or human enough. I think.

And hallelujah! Phew. Finally, you got it. Hope the bio wasn't too long - it was just so much fun to write about myself in the third person. Hehe...

well, it's definitely not in the ASTB category, not yet. i'm halfway through right now. it's mary renault's "the charioteer". i just really love the main character - and a lot of hte characters, actually. and it's such a...real book. in terms of portraying emotion - it's often unconventional and extremely honest. that way it reminds me of ASTB. but you're right - that would be completely impossible to live with, if every books was like jamie's. good lord. i think i would kill myself.

*siiiigh*

and now i want to hear all about the smut hunt. lay it on me. (yes, i did just say that. and yes, i meant it.)
