On Good Times With Lesbian Movies
What do you get when you combine three movies, an empty flat with a TV and VCR, thai curry sauce, chicken, and three TV-deprived 20 year olds?
A really fuxing awesome day. Yes, I did say fuxing. Because I like it.
Theresa's flatmates (yes, J., I am so British! ;)) left for the weekend, and one of them left his door unlocked, so we could get in and use his TV and VCR in his absence. Oh, it was glorious. We neither of us has watched TV since we left home, and we were severely deprived. So, yesterday, we went out to Brighton and went to Blockbuster to rent movies. We also walked all around, running little errands here and there, as it was a sunny, relatively warm day (such a rarety these days...). I even remembered to take my camera and took pictures.
In any case, we rented three movies, "Monsoon Wedding", "If These Walls Could Talk 2", and "But I'm a Cheerleader!" We enjoyed all of them immensely. Neither one of us had seen "MW" before, so we started with that one, and loved it - and it was funny to see some aspects of Indian families that I had already learned from being around Sam's family. Then, we made dinner (yes, I took pictures then, too, just because we do that so often, it had to be remembered) and it was great - thai curry chicken over rice with vegetables. Mmmmm... And tea. Can't forget the tea. Then, we watched "OTWCT2", which Marie and I had seen before. (Surprise!)
Ok, Chloe Sevigny is hot. I noticed this the first time I watched that movie (and that was the first female crush that I let myself recognize as such) - she was just...wow. Wow. And it was funny when Marie and I both started drooling as she first appeared in the gay bar scene. Heh. Theresa petted us on the heads. It was amusing. And Ellen DeGeneres and Sharon Stone depicted one of the cutest couples in history of movies. They were just so adorable.
Then we had a dessert break - yay, dessert! And after that we watched "But I'm a Cheerleader!"
"Silly Faggot, Dicks are for Chicks!"
Bwhahahaahaha... I love this movie. I'd seen it once before (Marie has it memorised), and I liked it even more this time around. It's really quite something. Shameless and smart, and to the point. And it features Julie Delpy, even if only for a minute. Can't go wrong with that... Oh, and boys kissing boys. And girls kissing girls. All around good family entertainment. Heh.
In any case, it was fun, except for the fact that we're all sort of sick at the moment (no wonder, as we spend quite a bit of time around one another). When we went to the grocery store to get food for dinner, we each bought a multi-pack of tissues. Glorious, glorious tissues...
I talked to Sam last night, too. It was a really good conversation. Long, lasted from 1am to 3am, but very good. Needless to say, he won't be calling again for a while...heh. This conversation was only supposed to last for 20 minutes, but, well. Well. That didn't happen.
And I would just like to reiterate how much fun being a Forum Ghost is. It's fantastic. My fellow ghosts are all awesome. Just really really awesome. We've lost one, but hopefully, we will see her again soon, as we miss her. :(
Oh, and I got a new tea mug. Can't get much better than that.
I'm also very excited about the fact that I took pictures. I love taking pictures, but always forget to bring my camera places, so I was proud yesterday. Took a few pictures of Brighton, of the girls... It was nice.
Oh, and, hey, how did the play go, anyway? Tell me, tell me! :)
Many hugs and such to all.
My throat hurts.

what horrible lesbian movies have you seen? i haven't seen many, so i don't really know... oh, and one of those movies was actually non-lesbian ('monsoon wedding'). but there was a boy there that you just KNOW will have problems with his family once puberty hits... yeah, ouch. good luck to that kid. and it's a great movie - i recommend it highly. :)
much love back.

Re:
Don't you just *hate* being the 'goody-goody' girl? I fear that is my lot in life, much as I wish it were not. :-(
