On Harry Potter.

In light of the recent depressive entry, I decided to post an observation that has nothing to do with my angsty mind.

I adore Harry. Not Harry Potter the Book (though that's an obvious one...), but Harry. This kid is simply wonderful, and I always forget that until I reread the books. To make myself feel better, I decided to escape reality re-read GoF, and oh. He is just so adorable. But it's not even that - it's everything that he has gone through, and everything that he will go through, and the way he goes about it. He is just wonderful. Harry is cool.

(Anyone else find it alarming that J.K.R. has said something to the effect of "will get him ready for what he will have to do"? What is she going to make him do? I mean, it's obvious he'll have to face down Voldemort for the umpteenth time, but it seems that there's more to this statement. Hmmmm...)

Just thought I'd point that out.

And I love the fact that Sirius went down south after his escape. He would want to be perpetually warm after his twelve years of being constantly cold. And he uses cool tropical birds. I adore this man.

Percy needs some love. He really does get a lot of shit from his family.

I want to take Crouch with my bare hands and wring his neck, just for being an uptight prick. Bleargh.

Oh, but the best fucking line in the entire book:

"I like a healthy breeze around my privates, thanks!"

Good ol' Archie.

Oh, and yay, the R/S thread is being resurrected on the Quill! And I finally got around to editting the title - it now says "R/S", as opposed to the stupid "R/s" it did before. I feel so much better, it was really annoying the hell out of me.

I love modding. Heh.

Yay! The R/S R/s thing. Honestly, I'm a HUGE R/S addict, but I have hardly looked at that thread. I couldn't stand it. It irked me. I avoided the whole thread.

I am also way too sensitive.

Mwah to Harry. As much as I love Ron and everyone, Harry's the... *incoherent noise*

right on

I'm with you about Harry. When you don't read the books for a while, you forget exactly HOW kewl Harry is. What always strikes me as I re-read things is how polite and sweet and considerate he is. And he's not a vocal wise-cracker like Ron, but he has some pretty witty inner thoughts. The best thing about Harry... he's NORMAL. He's a normal little boy who has a few talents and who has unusual things happen to him, and he deals with them accordingly. That's what's kewl.

I too am rereading GoF, and it's really pretty darn good. I knew there was a reason we were all such obsessives. Heh. Heh. Couple of things striking me:

1. I think I see where Percy/Oliver comes from--they're both perfectly beautifully overdrawn obsessives in canon, probably the best examples of their kind. Percy does get too much shit from his family--I hope he shows them all one day, though maybe not in AtE fashion (even though it's soooo good that way...aahhh)

2. Crouch sucks. And not in the good way. :-P

3. Sirius is responsible and mature. Like Remus. You don't just get that way (careful, caretaking, etc.) because of twelve years in prison--if anything, that would make you bitter towards the world and less likely to take care of your godson. He is an adult, a serious (though not boring of course) adult (which isn't to say he wasn't a prankster too) but I think that leads us down the one tarOOOOOO path as well.

:-)
