Mmm, I love it when slush freezes overnight all over the sidewalks. Mmmmm. I'm just grateful for my traction-friendly Docs. Thank you, boots, for saving my ass from the ice on two occasions involving arm-flailing that had nothing to do with fangirling.

So, I realized that I tend to wake up with two songs playing in my head, and they each bleed into each other kind of seamlessly - so seamlessly, I hardly ever notice, unless I'm paying close attention. This morning it was the Manics and The John Butler Trio. Weird, but it worked. Now I've added a third. It's weird, ok?

And, speaking of the Manics, whenever I don't listen to them for a while, and then come back, it always makes me so damn happy. Just hearing James's beautiful voice makes the day better. (And I'm rather obsessed with "Black Holes for the Young". Is that weird?)

So, yesterday, forty minutes before I was supposed to leave work, I got a call from Anna, who was supposed to be avoiding the world of phones. She was downstairs, could I come down and get her through?

See, she knew that I haven't been a very happy girl lately, and she knew just what to do, too. She came all the way out to Quincy from Brookline and waited patiently until my work was done, and we went to my house. And then [livejournal.com profile] mayatawi showed up, and we watched various Callum bits on my computer (take that as you will) and once we got Sophie in our clutches, we all piled on my couch, drank tea, and watched "Call of the Wild". It was Sophie's first time watching it, see. So, we had to bite our tongues a lot, and on a few occasions, I had my hand clamped around [livejournal.com profile] mayatawi's mouth, and she kept licking my hand (wench!), but it was worth it to watch Sophie's face during The Scene In The Hospital Hallway. After the first part ended, we looked at her, and her response was:

"I tried watching it without thinking of slash, but there's no way to see it without the gay!"

She also noticed Ray writhing in agony while Frannie was talking to Fraser and just dying in the corner, and the conversation in the car with Thatcher will get ANYONE thinking he's pining for Fraser's fjords, and, well, it was so much fun, because she watched it pretty objectively and YET...

And the ending is still so gorgeous, after all the times watching it, it is so, so perfect. Goddamn, I love this show.

And while Anna was waiting for me to finish up at work, she wrote me a little something, which I will be sharing later on tonight, as I forgot it at home this morning. But it's my revenge for her posting my receipt porn. Ha.

Mmm. I need a haircut. Two inches of hair is much too much.

I'm convinced it's the Gayest Show Ever. Seriously. Back when my roommate was trying to convert me to it and I was desperately trying to resist, she put in Burning Down the House and that whole conversation between Fraser and Ray Vecchio was killed me. "It's good to hear your voice." "As friends, Ray?" Come on. And then it was Eclipse and "Do you find me attractive?" and I'm sorry, but it's so damn blatant. Holy crap.

I love this show.

Seriously. I am generally not a fan of RayV/Fraser, but that conversation is so heavy with SOMETHING, you know? And from there, it only gets gayer. It's kind of unreal. It struck me all over again, last night, watching "Call of the Wild", and "Odds" and such, before that. You don't even have to squint, just watch it, and it's right there. And I love that so much, because...because they make it work. And the end...oh, the end. Every slasher's dream, you know? *happy sigh* I love that. And I adore the characters to bits, so it's really kind of perfect. :D

It really is. You don't even have to pretend or exagerrate things at all. It's just there. Does this mean we give Paul Haggis our babies? Heh.

That, or we must have done something right in our lifetimes. *g*

"pining for Fraser's fjords" = BEST. PHRASE. EVER. I'm totally going to have to use that at every available opportunity. :D

Yay for sharing the slash, and YAY for Anna, and yay Manics, and I am so damn amused at two inches being too much hair to you now. Hee.

Hee! I will look forward to seeing it pop at a random time. :P

You are so cute, you know that? And yeah, hair's getting too long in places, like over the ears and in the back a bit, but honestly, I just reallyreally like it short. SHORT short. Less of a pain and fun. :P

Love!
