I am at the end of my Sirius-y rope.

So, I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I really don't. It must be my not-so-well-hidden masochism, rearing its ugly head. But I've gone back to see what people have said on the Sirius and Snape issue once more. Here's a lovely little excerpt, I thought you'd all enjoy: (And yes, I do enjoy being a bitch sometimes. I'm not even making this friends-only today. So, ha.)

Unlike Snape, whose morals had been fought and hard won, Sirus seems to came by his by an accidental of birth. I can see him quite cheerfully doing the Dark Lord's bidding had he been born in a Slytherin family, and he wouldn't turn to the side of light either. Sirus, in a sense, lacks the moral center that makes Snape so interesting, what he had instead is a self-centered arrogance which in turn makes him believe his action is justified and his prejudices are never wrong.

Bite my Russian-Jewish Ass. Please. I am begging you.

(In fact, no, I'm kidding. Someone actually took me up on the offer once - a few years back - and I have regretted saying it ever since. (It hurt man, it was through my thin pajama pants!) But since you're all too far away, I can say it pretty safely.)

This person also said that "Sirius doesn't seem to think, like, EVER!"

Yes, which is exactly how he came to ESCAPE FROM A PRISON THAT NO ONE IN THE HISTORY OF AZKABAN HAS EVER ESCAPED FROM!

GAAA-AAAH!

Now, I would like you all to look through your worn copies of PoA and GoF and show me the places where Sirius's morals are those of a potential Death Eater. No, really, I would like to know. Would you?

And as for Snape's "fought and hard won" morals, I would just like to say two words - "DEATH" and "EATER". Thank you and good night.

~*~

Now, let's talk about what a drooling idiot I am (I think it was [livejournal.com profile] voxmaille that had the exact expression down that made wriggle on the floor, but I just can't remember it at the moment.) Let's discuss the fact that Liz is 20 years old and still can't open up a fucking can of tomatoes in sauce. Because using a can opener is somehow completely beyond her sorely lacking intelligence skills. Argh. How in the world can it take somebody fifteen minutes to open the damn thing, having tried three - yes! - three different can openers, poked holes in random places that did not even come close to the lid itself, only to mutilate the entire thing to the point of leaking and actually physically forcing the tomatoes out?

Wow. I am not impressed with myself tonight.

Onto better things - finished the angsty story, much to my surprise. I'm not sure how complete it is - sent it off to Anne, we'll see what she says. I feel like it may need more expanding, but don't know where it should come in. When I finish a story, I don't see any gaps where something else might fit in, it's like a completed circle to me. Maybe she'll see something. But, yay, it's done! It is rather short, however. Only 3 pages. Why is it that I can write smut for 7 to 8 pages, and not an agsty story that deals with feelings? I don't get it. It's rather disheartening.

Oh, but I am very very grateful to one of my hallmates. We were in her room yesterday, watching a very stupid movie (I don't know why, so don't ask), and I turned around and saw a picture of Aragorn on her wall (well, Viggo as Aragorn, obviously). I said: "Hey, cool!", and she suddenly got off the bed, said that she had something for me, and pulled out...a picture of Legolas. Oh, yes. It's mine. On MY wall. By MY bed. I have a picture of Legolas. Ah, but life is good sometimes.

Oh, and before I forget - My Prince is back! Welcome BAX, love, we've missed you around here. :)

I'm still very much enjoying "LoTR" - and I have a question for you all fans of books and hotbits (I swear to God, Roche, you need to patent that) - how old is Aragorn, anyway?

In other news...I have decided that there is nothing wrong with wanting to stay at home and read, as opposed to going out to a pub and sitting around there every night. It's not like I don't have the chances to go - I do, and I did last night, but not for long. But you know, it wasn't that amazing. It wasn't even that fun - all I wanted to do was curl up on my bed, with my book and duvet. And I did have people to talk to - it's just that it didn't feel right to me, for some reason. I think I miss having my closest friends around - the sort of people that you've known for so long that you don't need to fish for things to discuss and you work so well together, that you understand one another to the point of finishing one another's sentences. I miss my best friends.

So, yes. I don't care if I'm an anti-social freak, I guess that's who I am. And that is Ok.

Oh, but I am going to a Tori Amos concert in London on Thursday. Whoohoo! I believe it's the exact same concert that Mieko is going to. Odd, eh?

I'm really excited - because of Tori and because it's going to be in London. Because London is one cool place.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

How does one deter one's boyfriend from sending one drinking money? Any ideas? Anyone? Anyone? He really cracks me up sometimes. We're arguing about it even as I type.

Oh! I have finally remembered to share, because I've been forgetting for about a month -

When we were in Milan, we were walking around, and we chanced upon a shoe store. It proudly proclaimed: "COCKS".

I damned myself to hell and back for not having my camera on me that night.

And with that thought, I shall leave you. Night. :)

WTF EVER is about all the possible response to that. So, Dumbledore's evil because he's never been a DE? What about pretty much every other 'good' character in the books? Really, could it be any more bollocks? *le sigh*

I wouldn't worry about the length of the angst as compared to smut - sometimes stories just aren't that long, and sometimes they are. There's not much you can do about it. But should you wish to send it my way *bats eyelashes* then I'll see whether I think you could expand on any of it, if you like.

Yay for David being back, and yay for pics of Legolas! And I believe Aragorn is about ninety - bein' the Heir of Isildur and of the Line of Westernesse has fringe benefits in the living-a-bloody-long-time department.

Bwahahahahahahah.

Striving to provide good geek service -- he is 87 and 88 during the Lord of the Rings. And Arwen is a sprightly 2777.

Eowyn is 23, Eomer is 27, Boromir is 40, Faramir and Sam are 35, and Theoden is a well-worn 70.

Okay, I'll stop now.

Sirus, in a sense, lacks the moral center that makes Snape so interesting, what he had instead is a self-centered arrogance which in turn makes him believe his action is justified and his prejudices are never wrong.

As opposed to Snape, who is unfailingly humble, self-questioning, unprejudiced, and open-minded? :D This nonsense isn't from HP4GU, is it?

Unlike Snape... lacks the moral center... self-centered arrogance... blah blah blah.
See!!? I warned you that reading too much Snapeslash makes you go blind!

hotbits (I swear to God, Roche, you need to patent that)
It's not that I actually fancy the hobbits, you understand — I prefer the Gondorians myself, either captains or kings — it just came out that way, honestly...

And curling up in bed with a decent book can be one of the most enjoyable things you can do, sometimes.

Actually, Dumbledore is evil because his eyes twinkle. Didn't you know?

But should you wish to send it my way *bats eyelashes* then I'll see whether I think you could expand on any of it, if you like.

Done. :)

Ah, gotcha! Now I know. He's pretty well preserved for an 80 year old. Go him.

*love*

Wow. Well, you know, going purely by the age difference, perhaps he should have gone with Eowyn. ;) But then Faramir is closer to her in that department, so eh. Mwahahaha...

LOL. And no - snapeslash. See below...

Ahahahahahahahahhaahaa... You're right. I should have listened. *sigh*

It's not that I actually fancy the hobbits, you understand — I prefer the Gondorians myself, either captains or kings — it just came out that way, honestly...

Ah, but it was so perfect! I prefer them Elfin...well, only one Elf, really. Gondorians are all pretty damn sexy, though. Man.

And curling up in bed with a decent book can be one of the most enjoyable things you can do, sometimes.

Yes. AND it doesn't require dealing with people. Works out well for me.

Reading that excerpt just made me make some rather undignified squeaking sounds of protest...

He doesn't have a moral centre?
He doesn't think ever?

*resists urge to write huge bitchy post on Sirius characterization, just*

Also, I often prefer staying at home and reading to going out to pubs. *shrugs* Warm bed and a good book vs loud music and not so wonderful conversation. Give me a book any day. :)

You know, I'm a Snape fan, but I'm not totally blind to the reality. Sure, I have to be an ingrate and wonder why it seems that Sirius's prank on Snape w/ regard to the Shrieking Shack seems to be brushed under the carpet and that, to be perfectly honest, if Sirius hadn't gone after Peter it would have looked really strange if no one saw Peter ever again since everyone would think he had nothing to hide. But anyway, those Snape obsessers seem really off.

While I don't know how to deter a boyfriend from sending one drinking money, you might want to tell him you'd much rather have him send it to me. :)

You know, I sometimes think Snape enthusiasts only like him because he's Alan Rickman. That's the way some of my friends think anyway. Snape = Alan Rickman = oooh, hot = everything he does is great. Yeah, he's a deep and interesting character, but what they said was just plain dumb. There's a difference between investigating and extending stuff from canon in order to make him totally good, and getting so stupidly carried away with redeeming him that he stops being the snarky bastard we all love, and turns into Mary Sue's father. I learned this the long way, right when I got into fanfiction and wasted months writing Snape/Hermione awfulness. >.<

Sigh. Prats. Sirius and his moral centre are too good for them.

This so totally reminds me of a conversation my sister's friend and I were having about Sirius vs Snape and how some people think everything Snape ever does is justifiable .... If Snape is so FREAXing moral, how come he can just cut down a 14/15 year old girl like he did to Hermione over her teeth? How can you explain that?

Gah.

Yours in fanfiction,

JK

PS: Aragorn died at the ripe old age of 209, if my calculations are correct, just to put things in perspective.
