I'd almost like to give us a pat on the back for being so wonderfully Canadian... but then again, it's not all smiles and sunshine. Not only are we now whining about Kyoto (or the environment minister, anyway - who appoints an environment minister from oil-haven Calgary??? that's like appointing the minister for Northern Affairs from frickin' Florida!!! I ask you...), but the Tory (minority, thank God) government is looking to reopen the debate on equal-marriage. YOU PASSED THE FRICKIN' BILL, PEOPLE, GET OVER IT!!! omfggrlbfrickcraphellfuckdamn Must remember that not all Canadians, and not even all Conservatives are fascists...

Extremism is what's wrong with people. One could say that the bill wasn't fairly passed - the Liberals were the ones who put it on the table when they still had the government (even if it was a minority), but they made it a vote along party lines (I can't figure out if when this happens all parties have to do the same thing, but it wouldn't seem so, come to think of it, from other things I've seen - I really should get to know my own political system a little better, shouldn't I?) so that, I suppose if you were in the Liberal Party, at least, you couldn't say no even if you wanted to. And apparently not everybody wanted to. The NDP might have also made it a vote along party lines, I don't know. But the long and the short of it is that the Liberals lost their minority government in January, and the Conservatives won it. Now the Conservatives want to put it back on the table and think they can defeat it by putting it to a vote of conscience, because they know there were Liberals (and to a lesser extent, NDP) who would have voted against it. Why they would want to? Well, the same old, same old. Makes me see red.
