Dear Work,

Suck it.

Severe nausea,
Me.

...

Okay, so that's what I want to say, but...I'm still all torn. I started writing out all my reasoning, but fuck, even I got bored, so I deleted it. Instead, you all get a run-down of the shit I watched this weekend, thereby avoiding making any Big Decisions. It worked out great! < /sarcasm >

(BTW, the drabbles will happen. I just...forgot how much Sunday nights suck the life out of me, so nothing productive happened at all. What did happen? Oh, Christ. It was painful.)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] scriggle, I acquired a copy of "Dice", a miniseries Callum was in, around 2001.

Okay. I'm halfway done, and I have yet to figure out if it's a piece of utter psychological brilliance, and it will prove itself to be that by the time I finish it, or if it's the biggest piece of crap I have ever, ever seen.

I want to explain the set-up, but there are so many weird-ass storylines involved in it, I'll just give you the main one: there's a dead college-age girl, and there's a (young, recovering alcoholic, gay) cop on the trail of her killer.

There's her boyfriend, on the run.

There's a lot of DICE AND GAMBLING AND BLOODY METAPHORICAL IMAGERY.

There's an old guy looking for the boyfriend.

There's a sly and weird psych Ph.D. student leading a class about - I'm guessing here? - making your decisions as the dice roll. Ummm. You know who plays him? Aiden Gillen. Yep, Stuart Alan Jones himself. He has an American accent, and - oh, sweetie - because of that, his acting, um, suffers. Um. A LOT. Also, he's queer. At least bi. OMG SHOCK. Aiden Gillen = Token Film Queer. No surprise there.

And then there's this psycho? With really long, matted, fake, awful hair? And he makes these really weird faces, and speaks in a really high-pitched voice, and wants to play with dice, and claims he killed the girl? Strangled her with her pantyhose? Yeah. Meet Callum.

*headdesk*

But here's the funniest thing:

Note to the filmmakers:

If you're trying to keep us in suspense as to who could have killed the girl, or at least been there at the scene of the crime, and you use a flashback? Sure, we can't see this person's face, it's hidden. But we can still see his wrist. And Callum never does take that ballchain bracelet off, does he?

Ahem. Either make him take it off or don't show it, morons. Within five seconds I knew he'd be involved. Sheesh.

Amused,
Liz

And, of course, it can't be that straight-forward! No! There have to be deep, psychological underpinnings! Of course, it would help us not knowing what's really going on if you didn't pan in on Aiden Gillen's face every time he talked or said something OMG IMPORTANT. He drips plot-device villain.

Also, it would help if your main character wasn't so unbelievably stupid. If he weren't too busy being angsty and in recovery and queer, he might actually be thinking with more than one brain cell. But I suppose it's important for the plot that he not figure it out in five seconds flat, so my apologies.

Dear Boyfriend of the Dead Girl,

You are SUCH a moron. If you're on the run and have a gun, SLEEP with the gun, don't put it on your night stand, of all things. Jesus. Even I know that. Of COURSE you'll get bashed on the head.

Head-shakingly,
Liz

And - oh noes! - what is with all the DICE OMG?! How are DICE involved? Do you think that this may have something to do with DICE?! But why would it? Ohhhh! MAYBE because Aiden Gillen CONTROLS EVERYBODY'S FATE WITH DICE OMG!

No, really. It's like a train-wreck, and I cannot look away. Mark McKinney plays a total loser who's trying to bring about good through collecting money in a tin can for a children's charity. There's a hockey player who drinks too much and his - why British? - wife is fed up. There's... oh, Christ, it's so, so bad.

And yet I'm going to finish it. Because I am just that big a masochist, apparently.

One last note:

Dear Callum,

What. The total. FUCK?!

Strangely still shocked,
Liz

I've also been watching lots and lots of "ReGenesis" and have many Thoughts, but I'll wait till more people have watched it further. Oh, and about that: filefactory was mean and evil yesterday, but I will try to upload stuff for people tonight, and see what happens. Any specific requests? I have all of Season 1, and now four (hopefully five by the time I get home, but I'm not totally sure) of the Season 2 episodes. I know [livejournal.com profile] bohemian__storm's been really generous about uploading stuff, too. So...however you feel about it, let me know. I will do my best.

So, this weekend was largely escapism for me. Kind of stupid, I suppose, but I was just so tired. And now I feel guilty about it. Greatness.
