On brains shutting off for no apparent reason.

Just for the record, I am dead tired and it's not even half nine. How pathetic is that? On the other hand, who else besides me is amused that I just said 'half nine'?

In any case, I really am back from London - which is partly why I'm tired. Traveling and staying somewhere overnight can be exhausting, even if it's only an hour away (which London is, if an express train is readily available). I love London, it's a wonderful city, and spending a night there in somebody's flat is lovely - you don't feel like a tourist, and get a real feel for the place. However, I was more than happy to be back, just because I could take a shower - and practically see the grime and exhaustion going down the drain. Showers really do have healing powers, I tell you. It was the best 2pm-shower I'd ever had.

In any case, the concert was great - it was really Tori, really singing and really being odd. And she has an amazing voice - I knew this already, but it just came as a shock, all over again. We actually came in a little late - there were supposed to have been two opening acts, and when we ran in (after having literally ran across streets in front of cars and jumped over a fence), she was already on the stage. I'm guessing it was either the second or third song. No matter. We heard the rest of it - including "Cornflake Girl", "Precious Things", and "Crucify". Hearing her sing "Precious Things" and "Crucify" was almost - but not really quite - up there with hearing (and seeing) Bob Dylan sing "Like A Rolling Stone" and "Rainy Day Women #13 & 35" (or whatever the hell those numbers are, I can't be arsed to look them up right now.) She was also gorgeous, but whoever doubted it? All in all, it was very good. Perhaps not life-changing sort of good, but I think I wasn't in the right mode for it. I dunno. But I really did enjoy it immensely.

We had a lovely time with Robin's friend, too, who's very cool and nice and made us a wonderful dinner (the reason we were late for the concert... Hey, vegetables take a while to roast...) We stayed up way too late after the concert, just talking - Robin, Polly and Robin's other friend who's visiting her from home. And then got back in the middle of the afternoon today. DEAD FUCKING TIRED.

I realized lately that I have been feeling very anti-social. Extremely anti-social, in fact. Which is why I'm so proud of myself for today - I've been out with people for more than five hours. Only now got back. I know this may sound ridiculous, but I've really been feeling so self-sufficient, in a way, that I can't really think of anything better than staying in my room reading, with a cup of tea and a few biscuits. But today was nice - good conversations, good take-away (it's hard to go wrong with a jacket potato covered in butter and cheese. Especially if you hadn't eaten anything since morning with two cups of caffeinated tea in you...) Good people, too. I let someone borrow "The Fountainhead". Oh, I'll be curious to know what he thinks of it... *rubs hands together*

Oh, I'm probably making no sense. My head is a bit muddled at the moment. But I would like to make a few comments, on a few issues that have been swimming around this fandom -

1) On David Thewlis -

I give up. If he IS Remus in the movie, he's not my Remus, and that's that. I will not rant up a storm (although I want to - sorry, [livejournal.com profile] zsenya... :( ), I will not swear. I will not write another useless post on SBRL. I will say, though, that the movies have little to do with the books, and will never equal them, anyway, so I will simply let it go. However - he better not fuck him up. Not just because he doesn't look the part, but just because he has a very large responsibility on his hands. Even "Entertainment Weekly" knew it. Remus J. Lupin is one of the most beloved characters in these books - we all know it. He better do him justice. That's all I'm saying.

2) On Book V -

Whoopeee, still. I'm still excited, dammit. This is wonderful news. My parents finally ordered it for me on Amazon. One question, though - it WILL get there on that day, won't it? Anybody know?

3) This has very very little to do with this fandom, but I did think that maybe [livejournal.com profile] ballyharnon would be interested... Dylan Moran is coming to my uni at the end of the month. I really think I might go - such an opportunity doesn't come very often, does it? So, I'm excited about that. Yay. :)

On a completely unrelated note -

The best name for a pub, as seen yesterday, 16-1-03, London, England.

"The Famous Cock Tavern".

One question remains: whose?!

And on that lovely note, I shall leave you, because my brain just isn't working properly tonight. It has exhausted its capabilities for the day, sadly. See you when it gets back in order.

*mwah*

I'm glad you liked Tori. :) And if you're proud of yourself, then I'm proud of you. *hugs*

I'm not sure about David Thewlis, myself. I think he could be good... but I don't *know*... I suppose I'm just kind of sad that 'my' Lupin can't play the role. :) And if he FUX it up, then I think we're allowed to write rude letters, even if we don't send 'em. :)

YAY Book Five! (Will email, btw - sorry, have been busy. :))

'The Famous Cock Tavern' is hilarious.

And finally.... YOU GET TO MEET DYLAN MORAN?!?! Dude, you must go and take pictures and hug him for me! DUDE! *dies of jealousy*

"The Famous Cock Tavern".

I SO would go drinking there.

Again, I am not blessed with an opinion on David Thewlis. I haven't even seen a clear picture of him, much less seen him perform. I am so clueless I should just shut up.

Glad you enjoyed the concert! All was quiet on the Classroom front.

Is David Thewlis the guy from 'Total Eclipse'...? I watched it years ago and don't quite remember too much of it. ---- But judging from the pictures he might become a believable Lupin....

Remus and Sirius are cast older than I imagined them. But with loads of make-up they will look different anyway..... well, we'll see.

I give up.

I give up, too. I'm fed up expecting things of the movies that they can't deliver. And Gary Oldman (how appropriate that name is) and now, David Thewlis, can't deliver Sirius and Remus. Nothing about the films so far would ever have made me think that any new castings could; you'd think I would know better.

As I said to Minx, now I'm finished with moaning about it until the movie comes out.

Sadlly yours

Roche.
