On Unexpected and Wonderful Phonecalls.
Before I get into the real subject of this post, let me just say this -
Distance may make the heart grow fonder, but it does absolutely nothing for communication. That, and I am a paranoid bastard who needs to start taking medication. Or something like that. On the other hand, you and you are wonderful and I want to thank you for putting up with my whining last night. Just so you know, everything's fine, and I never had any reason to worry. As usual. (See Liz roll her eyes in her own direction. Ow.)
In any case, after Sam and I talked, I went to sleep, and was woken up at some unidentified hour of the night by a phonecall. I picked up fully expecting to hear Sam because, quite honestly, no one else would call me, anyway (from outside the campus, that is). After I heard a female voice it took me approximately a second and a half to identify the voice - Jo! GAH! Thank GOD!
So, here's a quick update on how she's doing:
Really well. A couple of weeks ago, she had a slight breakdown, but eversince then she's been doing really well. And those of us that knew what was going on with her were expecting that, I think. There is no way that a person can go through what she is going and not crack at one point or another. But she's feeling much better now, and - get this! - so is her mom. In fact, her mom went to see a different kind of specialist, had an operation on her leg (I think) and will now be able to actually walk again. And Jo can finally get a job. And her hair is green. (In fact, that is exactly the succession in which she told this to me.) Yay! Besides which, she complained about her piece of useless crap computer to her grandfather who has decided to buy her a new one. We should hopefully expect to see her back in a couple of weeks, after he looks at every model of Dells available, talks to sales people everywhere, and finally orders the one that Jo told him about.
Dude. We're going to Ireland. Whoopeee!
In any case, I know a few of you were just as concerned as me, so there you go. And update on
jadis31. God bless phones and snailmail.
Saw a movie last night, and it was really very good, but I am still trying to figure out just what the hell actually happened in it. If any of you have seen "Donnie Darko", let me know what you thought.
And with that happy thought, I am off. I think it's just beautiful outside today as it was yesterday, in which case, it'll be another great day. Or one may hope.

angua9 - I'm not completely sure, but I think he (points to icon) was something like 19-20. Heh. Have fun in The Bad Place.

The therapist was in on it, at least... that's my theory. Oh, and are you really going to Ireland? I'm so jealous. Say hello to Jamie O'Neill for me! ^_^
Sorry, that was really random.

Ah, but in on what, exactly? That's what I'm still trying to figure out...gah. I got so confused at the end. *sigh*
Oh, and are you really going to Ireland? I'm so jealous. Say hello to Jamie O'Neill for me! ^_^
Ah, not ONLY are we going to Ireland, but the plan is to actually go swimming - or just wading in - at the Forty Foot. Oh, yes. And if we do see him, we'll most certainly say hi. Besides, he knows you now, doesn't he? :)
Sorry, that was really random.
No problem. Heh. Didn't think you actually still remembered me and MY random comments. :)
Re:
See, my theory is that Donnie was supposed to die that night, and by him not dying he fucked up… time. Ya know? I mean, if he had just died that night then his girlfriend wouldn’t have died, and Frank too. But because he did live, Frank knew that he had a month to pretty much do whatever he wanted. So, I guess that Frank kind of showed him about time, and about the whole wormhole theory. I mean, because Donnie did live he got to set that perverts house on fire, and he got to fall in love, I mean… but Frank also had to show him that he was going to have to die, in order to save the world. Which I guess is kinda what it’s all about. If Donnie didn’t die it would have totally fucked up the world and time. I guess that there was just a mistake in time itself that needed to be righted.
I’m just not too sure. But, I do think the therapist was in on the whole time travel bit. She didn’t really think that he was crazy, she knew that he did have to die in order for the world to continue. If Donnie didn’t die the world would end. That’s why Frank keeps saying “the world is going to end in X days.” The therapist says to him something like, “if the world did end there would only be you and Frank.” And holy fuck, how would she know that if she wasn’t in on it? Or not “in on it” she just believes him. In one of the deleted scenes she says that he can stop taking his pills because they’re placebos.
Wow, I’ve officially just hurt my brain. I think I need to go watch the movie again now. When I’m watching it, it never seems so confusing!
Oh, oh, and about Ireland, you’re going to swim in the forty foot? Oh god, I’m so jealous. I’ll be in Scotland in mid May, and I want to try and go to Ireland, but somehow I don’t think I’m going to be able to. But, jeez, that’s so amazing. You should take loads of pictures! And yeah, if you see Jamie O’Neill say, “the girl who drew you a picture says hello.” And he’ll probably think you’re insane! ^_^ Okay, I’m adding you as a friend, because this comment is Un-godly amounts of long, and damn it, you’re the only person I know who’s read the greatness that is “At Swim, Two Boys”.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! NOW it makes sense! No, really, your explanation has made me feel so much better - you are SO RIGHT! Wow. And the bit about the placebo pills - DUDE! We NEEDED that! So, here's something I don't quite get - if Frank was a real person, who did he...do all that? How did he appear in the bathroom? And why were there those weird things that moved out of their chests? And...yeah. The therapist. Wow. Huh. Clearly, I need to see this movie again. It would probably make much more sense that way.
You should take loads of pictures!
Oh, you bet I will. I mean, it'd just be a sin not to! And I will definitely say that to him. ;) By the way, can I see the picture? Pretty please? :)
Added you too. There can never be enough gushing about the greatness that is "At Swim, Two Boys". I fucking can't stop thinking about this book. It's simply...yeah. Well. YOU understand. *sigh*
Re:
Well, that was his dead self coming back, you know? That wasn't the Frank that was alive in Donnie's universe. The Frank in the bunny suit was the Frank that Donnie had killed in the future. He was guiding Donnie, ya know, showing him how to save the world. See, that's why he had the big, gory, bloody eye thing going on, ya know, that's where Donnie shot him. Or shat him? Cause it's in the future... heheh shat him... *ahem*
You want to see the drawing?! Wow! That's so cool. It actually kind of... really sucks. He hasn't even put it up on his site yet, because he said when he went to go and update his own site, my site was crashed! Ah, it's such a bummer. Anyhow, Here's the link. (http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/d/i/dianaelise/atswim.jpg.html)
And, you know, there really can't be enough gushing about "At Swim"! I still haven't put it away, I keep re-reading it like a psycho, and then crying at the end. Oh god, I'm getting all teary just thinking about it. What cheer ‘eh? *sobs*

I cry. I cry a lot. I didn't have the book when I first read it - I got it out of the library, so that I had to give it back, which SUCKED. But during this Christmas, two of my friends got it for me, and I am SO HAPPY. I adore it. I can re-read certain passages over and over adn over and never ever ever get tired. The language is just so fucking beautiful. It's absolutely perfect. And the characters...and the history...and the...the...the love, man! Everything. Just...*sigh*
And thank you for explaining Frank to me - whoohooo, it now makes so much more sense! Frank is cool, because he told him to burn down the house. Heh. The fact that it was Patrick Swayze just makes it *priceless*.
Wow. Jamie O'Neill liked your picture. Wow. O_o

(Incidentally, have you noticed that Z's taken to calling herself the Tsarrooona? Bwahahah.)
And am VERY jealous about you going to ireland. But I am going at half term (March) too, to Dublin, so I shall send psychic messages to you while I'm there. :)
