On Good Things
Today I guess is a day for unexpected things. And most of them happy and exciting. Like, for instance, getting a certain book from a certain someone. Or seeing a friend that has been obsessed over for months that I haven't seen in practically a month and realizing that I was over that friend completely. Yay! For me, that's quite an accomplishment and makes me feel oh so much better.
And then there's also conquering the fear of failure and getting something done. And I am almost finished. I'm so excited, I can hardly sit still - I drew an illustration to "At Swim, Two Boys", and, um, well, I'm kinda really proud of it. I am not quite finished - the background isn't done, and I'm still working on one of the faces (I HAVE to do justice to that face), but yeah. I'm so happy. So, so happy. I can't wait to finish it. I mean, I drew it. I finally, after months of trying and figuring it out and complaining, finally did it. I drew an illustration to "At Swim, Two Boys".
Phew.

I keep forgetting to do this, but while I remember -
Two R/S fic recs -
They're both by the same author (Kicks), and are excruciatingly cute. One is called "The Trouble With Childhood Songs" and the other is a sequel called "The Trouble With Family Dinners". Remus gets outed by his baby sister in the first one, and the whole family tries to accept Sirius in the second. Enjoy.
Overall, good day. And reading "Anthem" was more uplifting than I could have expected. It was lovely.
You are so damn lucky. You get to read it for the first time. *sigh* What cheer!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Cornish Pasties? What was that about English food being horrible? Cornish Pasties are awesome. Mmmmm, tasty and meaty and pastie goodness...
Have I mentioned lately that I love England? This has nothing to do with Cornish Pasties, nice as they are. Honestly, I just love this place. I love that you get juice mostly in cartons here, and you have to pop up that white thing. I love that they have "Scotch Eggs" and that scotch tape is called "Sellotape" (which makes much more sense where HP is concerned). I love the double-deckers. I love the teeny cars. I just...I don't know. I just love the atmosphere. I'll really miss it when I have to go back. I think I just might have to come back...

And our cars are not mini, they're just smaller than the petrol-guzzling, completely unnecessary SUVs Americans seem to drive. :P
*LOVE times, as usual, about a couple of billion or so*

Though I will admit that SUVs are completely unnecessary, and they mint jam on meat is absolutely marvelous.

And they're so cute! ;) Yeah, the SUVs are totally unnecessary. It's ridiculous.
*just as much LOVE back at you*

No, they really are little. My dad's Honda looks huge compared to most of the cars I remember from the UK. Don't get me wrong, I think the Mini Cooper is the greatest car ever made, but dude. Once I saw a mini-van in Suffolk, and it dwarfed everything else on the road.

And per usual, I <3 you :)

And I <3 you, too, sweetie. :)

you've made me crave lamb pasties, though. i'm going to have to go food shopping and see if i can find ingredients that can be used to approximate the pasty experience.

Seriously, I agree with you--England is a wonderful place to be. I loved that there was a curry house on every corner. I loved that I went to university in a place where there were more pubs than people. I loved the roundabouts. I loved that half the buildings were older than my entire country. I loved that you could swear on television after 9pm. I loved that a cup of tea and a custard cream cured all ills. I loved everything.
And Scotch eggs are lovely. I really would love one right about now.
