What a long, strange trip it's been...
Weird day. Weird moods. I went from absolutely ecstatic to crying uncontrollably in, oh, 60 seconds.
We had a fight today. For a reason I won't go into here, and I was so upset, I began to cry. That was after this happened:
We had planned on getting something to eat and, while we were at it, picking up something a friend of ours left at our place. So, I went in and at the mail "wall" saw a package that was in the place where they put all packages. It was a white shoe box with air mail tape around it. Ever curious, I decided to have a look-see and was absolutely floored to read my name on it - in my best friend's handwriting. Carrie, Tali and T.'s boyfriend/our friend had sent me a care package.
So, the reason I got some fucking pissed at him was that I was so deliriously happy that I really really wanted to share it. (Sound selfish?..) But I also wanted to help him with his problems, but there was nothing I could do, and he was making a stupid choice that I completely flipped out about... Anyway, he decided against it, in the end. We talked. All is much better.
But...it was bad. Bad.
And my friends are the best friends in the entire world. I couldn't believe what they did for me - just as an example, I'll write out the "list of contents":

1 Orange page of Favorite Quotes & Lyrics
1 "Use Your Imagination" drawing (Meaning T. drew something totally random, and I have to figure out what it is)

1 S'more (I'm not kidding)
1 Box of Paper Clips (totally Carrie's doing - she's obsessed with the things)

1 String of Maxie's beads (Mardi Gras beads with special meaning)
1 Naked People Page (don't ask)
1 Fortune Teller (a story all its own...)
1 Tape: "Voices" & Band-Aid (they TALKED to me!.. I went around with my headphones cracking up, I'm sure I looked like a complete psycho, but it was so worth it!..)
12 Packing cranes (making fun of me, because I always make those things)

I mean, HOW is it possible not to cry and laugh and be absolutely thrilled at that?! I miss them like crazy, and this just serves as a reminder of that. The tape...the tape was perfect. Carrie's pick-up lines were perfect. The lil' book o' fun was perfect. EVERYTHING was perfect.
When every single thing in a care package that seems random and silly to an outsider has a special meaning to you, that's when you know that it's real friendship.
In the "naked people package" they put a new set of oil pastels. Tali knew I wanted them and couldn't afford to get them. She is absolutely the best. She and Carrie are just...amazing. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them - or hadn't had them these past seven/five years.
*sigh*
Oh, and I still owe R. an email. I really want to answer it but for some reason can't get around to finishing the damn thing. Long... but good. But I'll get there. Most likely tomorrow. Yes.
And off to bed.

i think the cookies are a very fine way to spend time - and a very good friend story. cookies are always fun to find on your doorstep, melty or no. :)
i talked to one of the culprits involed yesterday - and she assured me that they had just as much fun making it all as i did receiving it. apparently, what they really wanted to do was show me how boring it was over there so i wouldn't miss it. didn't work - but i appreciate the sentiment all the same...
