On Falling Under That Irish Charm...

It's so nice to go out, not expect to actually drink due to monetary issues and then get treated to a round by a friend's mum. It's quite lovely, in fact. I hadn't had Smirnoff Ice in a while, and was feeling mellow enough that it actually sort of went to my head. BUT - and this is very amusing - I'm not such a lightweight anymore. I used to get really buzzed off one bottle, but not anymore. I'm not sure if that's such a good thing. It was rather cheap that way. Ah, well.

I just accidentally looked over at someone's screen and got a picture of a penis with a cigarette "sticking" out of it, saying "Hello!" for my troubles. I suppose I deserved that, but it did rather make my morning. I am not complaining, simply sharing the joy.

You know what else is joyful? That apart from the R/H Debate thread, the R/S thread is the most frequented and most looked-at thread in The Empty Classroom. Ha! Go us. I looked through it recently, and realized that I didn't write in it as much as I thought I had (meaning, every other post.) It was rather nice to see that I am not, in fact, the only crazy person there. There are many of us. Soon, we'll take over the world. *cough*

Speaking of which, I would like to, just for fun, count how many people have succumed to the Irish charm. Lessee here... (in no particular order)

Sim, who doesn't have a journal, and should get one.

*looks up*

Oh, hell, I'm good.

But so are all of you, because I know you loved it. Or will love it. Or are in the process of loving it.

My job here is done.

You can add me to your list, because someone I know at the publishers is sending me a copy. I'm expecting great things now.

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
Whoohoo! That's awesome - and you sound all important, having a copy SENT to you. I'm not that cool. Hope you enjoy it!

[identity profile] rochefort.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
you sound all important, having a copy SENT to you.

I am indeed. If more people than lowly book editors realised that, the world would be a better, happier place.

add me to the list

I guess you can add me to the Irish Charm list.

Won't say more for fear of spoilers. But Liz - why? Why? I saw it coming, but still...

At the risk of being ridiculed from here to breakfast time, Liz. What's 'The Empty Classroom'?

*ducks howls of derision*

Oh, heh. It's one of the forums on The Sugar Quill - I happen to help moderate that one, and I wouldn't even presume to use my modding powers to... promote the thread... a bit more... *cough*

*hands Liz a spoonful of Buttercup Syrup*

Nasty cough you have there, Chicky! And thanks *g*

Waaaaah, I don't know!.. Because the world's an evil, evil place?.. I didn't see it coming quite that way, though at that point. *sigh*

I'm so glad you read it, though, your Majesty. :)

[identity profile] droggnon.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
It's on my list of books to read in the very-near-future, if that counts.

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, really? Cool!

*hides the world domination list from view*

[identity profile] spin1978.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I have two copies (one hardcover, one paperback) but I digress.

I am sure I'll love it once I find the time to read it....

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
Two copies. You own two copies. How did I miss that?! Heh, have fun reading them both. ;)

Hhehehe, ooooooh, yes, I did. Mwahahahahah indeed. *g*

[identity profile] hildigunnur.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
He he. I'm surprised at myself not mentioning it earlier ... recently acquired a copy and started reading it last night. I think it will take some time to read it ... 'cause I need to relish the words :)

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
*squeals* That's so cool! Wow, this is getting way out of hand - in a really good way, of course. Do relish the words - they are to be savored!

[identity profile] amaterasu.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Good Lord, woman, you should work in PR.

All of LiveJournal (or the Quill, or both) will have read it by the time you're finished with us.

I know! D'you think Jamie O'Neill would hire me? Maybe I should tell this one here to put in a good word and a few statistics for me when she goes to the reading this weekend. ;)

All of LiveJournal (or the Quill, or both) will have read it by the time you're finished with us.

Ssshhhhhh, you're not supposed to give it away! Jeez, woman, don't you know anything about secret domination proj- oh. Damn.

Er, I just bought the book, too, actually. Put another notch on your lipstick case, or wherever you put them.

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Shall do. (And where I put them is my own little secret... *cackles*)

[identity profile] firelocks.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Guess who's meeting the brilliant author man tonight??

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
TONIGHT?! It's TONIGHT??!?!?!?!?

GAH! Oh, dude, email me! Wait, no, I'll email you and just...just...guh.

You lucky, lucky wench - but I still love you.

Unfortunately, I had to tear myself away from the book for a couple of weeks to study for an extremely annoying statistics test. But it's done now and I'm back to reading. I'm at page 130 now, and can I just say I'm loving Doyler? He is so...cool. I wish I could elaborate more on that statement but wouldn't want to spoil anyone who hasn't gotten that far yet.

And yes, the R/S thread rox. We will take over the world...because we're Pinky, we're Pinky and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain! :)

Off to class now where I get to sit for an hour and a half learning what a freakin Kurtosis is. *heavy sigh*

Sim

Unfortunately, I had to tear myself away from the book for a couple of weeks to study for an extremely annoying statistics test.

Oh, booo to statistics. I shudder at the memory of Kurtoses and all that crap. I wrote my silliest fic in stats once. *nods* It involved three little animagi...

Doyler is...well. Doyler. There really is no other way to describe him. ;) I love that boy. We shall definitely have to discuss this once you're done.

Am waiting for the library to prank-call me back re: hold placed...and dude, I am SO glad you don't use yr powers for evil. At least, not, you know, BAD evil.

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh...yes. My powers. It would have been sorta funny if I gushed about a book that actually was horrible and if so many of you went out and read it... THAT would have been evil. It is a good thing I don't do evil. Not real evil, anyway...

Oh, good luck waiting. Libraries always take SOOO friggin' long. *sigh*

[identity profile] mombi-of-oz.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*sobs* I don“t count, I see! *sobs more*

[identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com 2003-02-25 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh nooooo! Actually, I thought of you but since you read it without my interference... But no!! You DO count! :D Of course!

[identity profile] twentyfourhours.livejournal.com 2003-02-27 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
heee, lurker on your journal am I, but I must say I have been persuaded as well. :D Now to actually manage to order it...
