One of the nominees for The Seven Wonders of Canada? The Montreal Bagel.

Resilient and chewy on the outside, soft and soulful on the inside… not unlike the Montrealers who nominated it, the Montreal bagel stands for something. What that something is - we’re not exactly sure… but the bagel definitely goes down well with a nice thick dollop of cream cheese. Mmmmmm. Cream cheese. Whether you go with the Fairmount or the St. Viateur bagel – you really can’t go wrong.

you know, whenever anyone goes nuts about the bagels here, they always fail to mention the best thing about them : the price/hours of availability ratio. Cheapest 24-hour source of starch EVER.

Do not laugh. There's a place here that FLIES IN St. Viateur bagels and they do a brisk business. There is NOTHING LIKE the Montréal bagel on the planet. Your pathetic, puffy, bland New York bagels do not compare. ONE DAY THE WHOLE WORLD WILL KNOW. :)
