I'm going to a Russian-speaking region of Central Asia, probably Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan. (Which reminds me, I really need to email my Russian prof about self-study materials.) The problem is, I haven't officially been approved for this program yet--they're still processing my medical paperwork. Until they decide I'm not going to drop dead as soon as I get over there, they can't tell me any more details--just the region and a vague departure date of "sometime in August." V. frustrating.
Blood for science--it's actually a drug study for an HIV medication. I go to a center two weekends in a row, take a pill, and then they take lots and lots of my blood to test. And pay me like $700 for my trouble. Win all around!
Hey, it's perfectly legitimate to get excited about going to Kohl's. I'm excited about sitting around all day with my friend K watching Firefly.
