While I adore BBT, I can't help but be heretical and worry about how while it humanizes science & scientists, it also indulges in some pretty blatant stereotyping.

Oh, I completely understand that! I had the same problem with in the beginning, but I feel like the characters have progressed enough, and all become COMPELLING enough, to kind of - overlook it, and enjoy it for what it is, you know? The blatant stereotyping IS there, but I just love them all so MUCH, you know?

I haven't started in on the second season (just saw the season 1 DVDs two weekends ago), so I qualify my remarks with that.

I think for obvious reasons the show resonates with me on a number of levels. While I was enjoying it a great deal while watching, afterwards, there was slightly excessive contemplation and navel-gazing. I should probably post about it one of these days. Maybe after I catch up on season 2....
