My Chem Chicago tickets for sale! :D?
Heeeeey-yo, so! Since My Chemical Romance were kind enough to announce that they're PLAYING THE MOTHERFUCKING EAST COAST IN EXACTLY A MONTH,
brooklinegirl and I made the most ADULT decision to scrap the Chicago plans and go to New York, instead! \o/\o/\o/
Which means we are currently hanging onto TWO MCR @ the House of Blues, Chicago tickets - December 15th!
We'd like to sell them for face value, no fees, which is $33 per ticket. The tickets are GA.
If you know anybody who wants them, PLEASE send them our way! Spread the word! They can contact me at mrsronweasley @ yahoo.com.
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you! :D

I might be getting my places confused but I dont even think there's any upstairs standing area. and whatever the show time is listed as, THAT'S pretty much when it starts. I remember me and rob totally MISSING a show there years ago because we figured, oh, its a club! they're not going to go on till 11! and when we got there the show was OVER, lol. so yeah. pay attention to the times, lol!

I think you may be confusing it with another venue - there is definitely an upstairs standing area, although it's not very big. You're right about times, though - while I doubt MCR will start on time, you definitely want to get there when the doors open or earlier, since it'll be a big crowd, no question!

and yeah, YEARS ago my husband and I went to see Rancid there and figured, punk band, Roseland, there's no WAY they're going on early. we got there at 11 and the place was emptying out and we totally missed the show. so crazy!

Doors for this concert are at 7 p.m., and I'd guess that the first act won't go on until 8 p.m.

(also, how was kris allen when you saw him at roseland? I'm guessing he was adorable and fantastic like always, but was curious *g*)

My favorite GA spot in Manhattan is probably the Nokia, even though it's really corporate feeling - the sightlines are awesome, and the two levels of GA really helps, and there's seating in the back so people who aren't up for the crazy GA experience can still go and have a good time.
Kris was great! It was weird seeing him as an opener, since the crowd wasn't entirely his crowd, if that makes sense, but a bunch of us were clearly there for him, and he and his band had a great time up there. Give him another hit single and a second album and he'll be the main act at venues that size, no question. Also HOLY SHIT but he is so fucking hot, I can't even. Tight little jeans and his shirt kept riding up, and oh my god his ARMS.

and THANK YOU SO MUCH. we are working things out today! I will be emailing you SOON!

Okay, so it's a big open venue, with a GA floor and then a balcony. My understanding from the way Ticketmaster is set up is that you either have a GA Floor ticket or a GA balcony ticket. The overhang isn't substantial though, so most of the floor gives you a wide angle view of the stage. The floor is longer than deep - there's the front section of the floor, then a little ledge where the sound crew is, and then a back section which is raised a bit so you can see over the sound crew, but that part of the floor is under the overhang.
It has a standing capacity of around 3,200 people for both levels. There is a bench for seating along the house right wall, but that's under the overhang and not a great view, in my opinion - not worth staking it out. At the concert I was at a few weeks ago, people got there, got their spots on the floor and then just sat down until the openers started. People weren't too pushy but it was a VERY VERY different crowd than a MCR concert, so.
The concert I saw there had a line outside that was longer than I expected, and I'm sure that MCR will obvs be longer, with more hardcore peeps holding down the fort. It snaked down one block, up an avenue block and then around the corner a bit. I expect that MCR's line will be a full city block long by the time doors open, if not longer, based on other NYC concerts I've been to recently.

By which I mean that it'll loop all the way around the entire block, most likely, sorry that was so unclear. At the last concert I was at there, a friend of mine got in line at 1 p.m. and got right up to the stage in the theater - I'm guessing that for MCR it would require an overnight wait.
Also, other concerts there have had like a little VIP/more expensive ticket option - there's this raised section in house right, it's not on the balcony, but it's its own little thing that at other concerts has been sectioned off. I haven't seen that option on Ticketmaster tho, so I'm guessing they're not doing it.
It's a really good GA venue - one of the best two or three in Manhattan, IMO.

And I cannot BELIEVE I get to see them so soon - it'll be my first MCR concert, and I thought I'd have to wait until their big spring/summer tour. SO SO SO EXCITED.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM SO SO SO EXCITED IT IS UNREAL.

*FLAILS LIKE KERMIT AT MY DESK*
And because I am neurotic and cannot edit my comment:
The bench is along House LEFT, not House Right. As someone else commented, standing on Ray's side will likely get you closer - the doors open up into the room on House Left, so that side fills up faster. You walk into the venue from the side - the sound guys are pretty much right in front of you, with the stage to the left. I am sure it's gonna be NUTS.

GOD I LOVE THEM.

But, dude. DUDE. NYC. IN A MONTH. And all this venue information is AWESOME.
I AM REALLY, REALLY EXCITED.

Or, honestly, do what we did for Black Cards. show up right on time, head for the bar and hang out in the back and watch them from the distance. It ends happier.

As soon as I got the email and saw the NYC show, I thought two things "I shall go to that" (in my best Moses voice) and soon after, "Oh, I should make sure L&T know about it" and then I laughed at my own silliness.
Oh, and where are you staying after? I haven't looked into a room yet, and I wouldn't be opposed to staying at the same hotel as two of my favoritest folks.
And I am so excited for this show.
