SGA, 3x17, "Sunday": an addendum.
1) I think what shocked me the most about John's comment (you know that of which I speak) was the fact that, um, HE ACTUALLY SAID THAT. And what's amazing about THAT is the fact that I was honestly expecting the SGA writers to go the way of everybody else in this TV world and not acknowledge either that
a) homosexuality/bisexuality exists as a part of this world at ALL, and
b) that it might even exist on their show.
'Cause, let's face it: this isn't quite England. We're not quite there yet.
Like...it's hard to explain, but basically, whenever I watch a TV show and look at all the relationships shown, all I can think is that not all the major food groups are represented. Yes, there are exceptions - but they are there mostly from the start. (And I am not talking about Joss Whedon, for he is Special Like Turnbull and we love him dearly.) I can only think of a handful, honestly, including the GOD AWFUL "Sherman's March" that never actually aired (oh, Joe).
So, like, I don't know! I was surprised. Maybe I underestimate people. Who knows.
Also? John is military. He is damn lucky Ronon's not from Earth. JUST SAYIN'.
2) Was he married? Did we... oh my God... did we get Sheppard BACK STORY? Well, no crap! Huh.
And I'm pretty sure that
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
- So are we ever going to hear about John's marriage, and how it failed because he's a big giant flaming queer?
...YEAH.
(Also, they touched each other's asses? And, like, wow, John, whose pants are YOU trying to get into? And I mean that literally.)
3) Okay, the last scene's kind of growing on me. Maybe. I mean...David Hewlett is all kinds of awesome. And Carson's hair still bothers me, but that's neither here nor there at this point.
4) Hey, so Teyla - thinking about Carson in the beginning? I hope so. I mean, OW. But still.
5) BY THE WAY. Elizabeth's date? What was his name? HOT. Dude! I hope we see him again, DAYUM.
Anyway...off to actually eat dinner now...
Why do they keep breaking me? Why?

On the other hand, he looked frigging amazing in those wrinkled up civvies. And the dress blues? Squeeee!

And YES. You can tell Flanigan's not getting any sleep, though. Poor guy. *g* THREE KIDS. Can't be easy. That was probably his first golf game in a month or something. *g*

Although? It had never occured to me that John might have been married before. Had you? Anyone reading this comment, thoughts? The only times I can think of seeing it in fic have been AUs. Hrm.
(Why no, I really *can't* stop thinking about this ep, why do you ask?)

Okay, the married thing is totally wigging people out, isn't it? I can totally see it, though. Also, I told Sam about it, and he wasn't shocked at all. He had thoughts! Interesting thoughts! Which I will post tomorrow. But it was funny how UNSHOCKED he was.
(OMG, Kat, me neither. I'm dying on the inside, from so many things.)

Oooh, I am excited to hear Sam's thoughts. And, of course, your own.
(ME TOO. So, uh, viewing party at Muskrat? If you don't mind watching me cry. I BLAME BAGPIPES. Sometimes I am very, very Scottish.)

See, the married thing? On actually stopping to think about it - and it became clear it was going to be that he had the second he asked Ronon, it was sort of inevitable, right? - it totally makes sense to me because, yeah, like you guys said - checking it off, something he should do, and he would be SO bad at it because of the way he is with (most, non-team) people, and also the EXTREME GAYNESS HELLO. Heh.
Totally off the subject, but *oh God*
Read it! Read it! AU Sci Fi fusion! Mounties in space!
I just finished it, and I'm kind of flailing here. Oh, Fraser! Oh, Dief! Oh, Ray, my poor broken, achy, happy heart!
::FLAILS::

And then John had his line, and I nearly spat water all over my screen. I mean, seriously, people.
