Here's how the beginning of the conversation went:
The scene: Liz napping on the couch. The phone rings, and she debates for a long moment whether or not to pick it up. Then she remembers it's probably a well-wishing relative calling. Dragging herself away from sleep, she goes for the phone.
Liz: ...Hello?
Ni: Liz? (spoken really really cute, like, the cutest ever, and has the effect of making me think it's a Russian person. Hence...)
Liz: ...Da?
Ni: Uh...Liz?
Liz: *changing language in head* ...Yes?
Ni: Hi, it's Ni!
Liz: *pause* *thinking the person had just said 'it's me' and trying hard not to seem rude in not knowing who 'me' is* Hi!
Ni: Hi! Happy Birthday!
Liz: Thank you!.. *pause* OH!
Ni: Yes
Liz: OMG!!!!!
*facepalm* I am so slow sometimes...
But eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! She is SO CUTE, the CUTEST EVER!
Now, for the really bizarre news of the day:
Last night, I accidentally won a trip to Cancun for only $299 per person, to be travelled at any date throughout the next year, all luxury, airfare on me, but the rest on them. Including...unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. And food. And, um, beach? In Mexico? And a free trip to Orlando? For two? For free? Same deal? Like, WHOA?!?!? Like, SHIT!!!
My dad at first was upset with me for taking it, because he thought it was a scam. It isn't. It's a promotion. I was lucky. I'm insane for taking it. But fuck. I can take up to four people for the same price. JoJo is coming with me, there are no ifs, ands, or but(t)s about it.
I wrote my parents a note after they'd gone to sleep, saying it's all right, it's fine, and I can always transfer it another person should I choose to. And this morning, along with my birthday card (and money, score!), my dad said:
"All right, then! It's your life."
And that is the best thing he could ever possibly have said, because yes, it is.
And my money, too.
And...umm...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
