I want to write up a proper review of "First Strike" but I'm just so cut for reaction spoiler rather than an actual one ) that I'm going to wait a little bit and stew it over in my head for proper coverage.

Meanwhile, everybody should go watch "Can't Stop This", a new due South vid by [livejournal.com profile] voiceless009. And when I say "everybody", I mean, "EVERYBODY". Even if you've never seen due South. Because, honestly? It's like porn? With all canon material. It's hilarious and fabulous and such a perfect introduction to due South, because - no, really! All of that is canon. The cutting and editing, the song choice, the SCENE choices - are all fantastic. I flailed with such glee last night, I didn't really know what to do with myself.

I mean, most of you have already seen it, squeed and flailed. But for the rest of you that haven't? GO. GO NOW. It is made entirely of AWESOME. (Ahahaha, BATHROOM SEX! And handcuffs! And car blowjobs! And early morning sex calls! ♥ ♥ ♥)

And, despite the fact that I fell asleep after midnight, and woke up before my alarm, at 5:14, I'm...doing okay. Shockingly. I suppose the squee IS enough to get me through the morning, at least.

On the other hand, I had other things to say, and they're...all gone now. Uh. Crap.

And if anybody feels like coming over here and squeeing over random fun things? Please do! Like I said: I'm subsisting on squee today. Hopefully, there's also breakfast in my future, but... *taps foot, waiting*

mrsronweasley: (Meet Ollie...)
I was asleep by 8pm last night. I kind of win.

I was exhausted when I got home yesterday, and kept getting more and more tired as time went on. By 7, I was ready to sleep. By 8, I was dead to the world. It was awesome.

Because, see, work doesn't have much to do, but it's still exhausting, because at any random time, there's something going wrong, or people being pissy, and the morale in this group - for reasons that might be explored at a later juncture - is at an all-time low. People are bitching, people are gnashing teeth, and people are planning to leave, myself included. It's all just ridiculous.

So, not to dwell on the bad stuff, I will ask you all questions! So you can, uh, entertain me? *looks extra-inviting*

See, I was thinking about this yesterday (in my half-asleep mode) - in various fandom, I will inevitably have pairings that I love and will never let go of, and pairings that wig me the fuck out, as well as pairings that I'm okay with, on a short-term basis.

For instance!

Harry Potter - Remus/Sirius, all the way, forever and ever, arooo. Right? While Remus/Tonks makes me look for the next available bucket, for many, MANY reasons. While other R/S shippers are semi-okay with that outcome, I am so totally very much NOT OKAY WITH IT. So, there is that for HP.

due South - RayK/Fraser. ♥ Ray/Ray wigs me out (it's a personal thing), while I can sort of almost maybe? do F/V/K. Sometimes. When I'm, you know, relaxed, or something. Easily pliable. Maybe slightly intoxicated. I can read well-written F/V and enjoy it, even, knowing the rest of the series is out there on the horizon. Is that mean? I dunno. But yeah. I really like Vecchio, I do! I just. You know. KOWALSKI. So.

Now, take SGA - John/Rodney's my default. I like it. It interests me. They're cute and funny and the whole flyboy/geek thing really, uh, butters my muffin. The Hateful Ship of Doom is Sheppard/Weir, because no. Just no. I mean, when a ship can be called "Jizabeth Schweir", you know you have problems. It's boring, it's predictable, they have no chemistry and oh, yeah, John's gay. So, no-go on that one. ([livejournal.com profile] airinshaw, avert your eyes for the rest of this paragraph.) John/Teyla is my ship of hot, as is John/Ronon. 'Cause. HOT. And I realized that I am totally okay with (sometimes) reading Rodney/Teyla, because Rodney getting some from Teyla? Equals HAPPY TIMES in my head. And, finally, I will read OT4 with pleasure. Because it's always an interesting dynamic to me, and as long as everybody gets equal love? I am totally fine with it all. (I don't like people being left out in the cold. It's a thing. I may have issues.)

So. My question is: what about you? Which pairings will never ever leave your heart, even if you may sometimes stray off the beaten path? Which pairings wig you out no matter how hard you try not to let them?

Let's talk love. Because it's Tuesday, and we all need a little love.

It's good to know that only a smallish handful of you think I'm whacked. \o/

So, okay, results of the poll?

First, [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse totally wins with her (horrific and terrifying) advice of "BREED HEAVILY AND OFTEN", which I will, despite the funny, choose to totally and completely ignore.

Runners up are all of you who wanted PORN as the cure. Especially [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl, who advised with "dirty, dirty porn. With rimming. and sex toys. Dildos, perhaps." It's the "Dildos, perhaps" that really makes that classy and couth.

Alternately, y'all said "MORE KIDFIC, DUH!" which is a totally valid lifestyle choice.

So I totally opened up my unfinished kidfic AU and I am staring at it, and it is staring at me back very defiantly. It's telling me, "YOU got yourself into this PLOT business, YOU dig yourself out", and I'm trying to tell it that just because I thought that AU Ray and Fraser couldn't start fucking as soon as they met when I started writing it, didn't mean it had to be this way NOW, when it actually so totally does, and hence the staring contest. It's 33 pages long and it's only the beginning.

*sigh*

But I really, really want to finish it. I just have to...work this plot out. Like, I think I vaguely know what goes where and how and why and, mostly, WHEN, but I have a hard time with putting all these elements together. I'm going to have to give it to someone to just, honestly, poke holes in the plot, because I'm sure there will be many opportunities.

But, you know that thing where we post bits of WIPs? The first one is more of the kidfic AU, the last two are my SGA fics that I'm not actually sure I'll finish. I go back and forth on them, and the second one is causing me actual existential angst, because the canon's moved on, and clearly, I haven't. But, well, here. I dunno. I might finish Siberia, 'cause it brings me joy. And I'm definitely going to work more on the due South AU, because - ditto. The last one, though...well, that one might just stay on my hard drive and wither.

Kid!fic )

Rodney in Siberia. )

As of yet unnamed and unfinished John/Rodney epic. )

So, yeah. There's that. And I've been getting more and more back into Ray and Fraser. Because, really, I'm just not done with them yet. I was afraid I was, but apparently, I was wrong. And that kind of makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside, and whatnot.
mrsronweasley: (mountie porn...)
More drabble. For [livejournal.com profile] lilac_one, who wanted five years after "La Danza Mas Antigua", aka, Mexican Salsa Fucking.

'The New Dance' )

More later. :)
mrsronweasley: (due south subtext)
So, I have written two drabbles. [livejournal.com profile] lilac_one and [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9, yours will be ready soon. :D

Also, apparently, by a hundred words, I meant, like, 600-1000. Ooops? I really fail at being brief.

For [livejournal.com profile] bathsweaver, who wanted a year or so after Practical Diplomacy, Vecchio and Fraser talking about Kowalski.

'The Best Defense' )

For [livejournal.com profile] pearl_o, who asked for approximately six months after "A Funny Thing Happened...". (By the way, I never actually made it explicit, but this fic is a pre-cursor to the events of "...and this is what it's for...", as well as "(This Must Be) The Place". And, basically, that whole universe...)

'On the House' )
mrsronweasley: (crotch to crotch...)
Ahhh, I'm trying to catch up on comments, I am! I'm failing a bit? *flails*

But I wanted to throw this out there, since it's been brewing in my head for a while.

OTPs.

In fandom, I've had two big OTPs, and I think I've been spoiled by them, especially when it comes to Ray/Fraser. Watching SGA has been interesting, because I expected something that I haven't quite gotten (yet), in terms of pairings. More than anything, this show is very gen. Even when they're trying to sex it up a bit, it's still gen. Sheppard/Weir is a non-pairing, because there's no chemistry. In fact, as somebody pointed out, there's more chemistry between Sheppard and that mannequin he was (gayly) leaning on, than there is between Sheppard/anybody. (Although, Ronon has enough chemistry to make up for the entire show. I'm pretty sure he IS the SGA sex drive. He's like the id with dreads, or something.) So it's an interesting exercise in how much you see vs. how much you interpret.

Up until a certain point, I was monofannish to the nth degree. Harry Potter, for years and years. Now, I've become open to a lot more fandoms, but I'm still monofannish in a way where I care only about maybe two at most. So, I'm used to a certain kind of dynamic, a certain...willingness of canon to play up to my sick and twisted fantasies.

Remus and Sirius. )

Ray and Fraser. )

John and Rodney. (Plus some other SGA) )

In conclusion, I want more gay on TV? I need to be more flexible?

Hmmm!

(On a totally unrelated note, this morning I was listening to "Million $ Moment" and made a whole SGA vid to it in my head. *claws at brain* Make it stoooooop!)

None of this is meant to offend anyone's fandoms/otp's/anything at all! It's just my rambling on a Friday morning.

ETA: Hey, check out [livejournal.com profile] soupytwist being really smart!

And, okay. Rodney has never called John "John." *awaits*

Another ETA.

Also, wanted to say that this is all just talk of a new person, and I realize that it may come off sounding like I'm all, "my fandom's better than yours" which is not at ALL what I meant to say, at all. I was just thinking out loud. So, um. Keep that in mind. I think SGA is awesome and fun. *slinks off*
mrsronweasley: (Fraser...)
I wrote this at work, but didn't get a chance to post until now. This is for [livejournal.com profile] bathsweaver's prompt: Due South: Ray. Fraser in the rain. Explicate.

It...totally ran away from me. Un-betaed. 1400 words. Yeah, "drabble", she said.

'Fraser! Fraser, wait up!' )

The rest coming up soon. :)
