So, I woke up this morning to no electricity. And no hot water. The only link with the outside world was my cell phone, because the other phones weren't working. There was no light. There was no shower. There was no tea, there was no toast. The fridge was slowly defrosting. And, need I mention the lack of the computer and the TV? I felt like I'd entered the Middle Ages, of course, which is why I started reading Mary Stewart's "The Crystal Cave" which came in the mail yesterday. It was kind of interesting, to not be able to do much except lounge around and read. Obviously, it's all back to normal now, but what an interesting couple of hours it was. I'm still debating as to whether or not I should go out or stay in. It feels like a useless day, because I meant to get a lot of things done early, but couldn't because of the little black-out.

The interesting thing is that for some strange reason, we have all the premium channels now. My mom says it happens every now and then, but I definitely wasn't expecting to turn on the TV and find a naked girl sticking a dildo in another. And, no, I didn't enjoy it. Straight up porn is not my thing. Bleargh.

I feel like I got up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm grumpy and pissy. I think I will go out, if only to air myself out. Sorry about this.

Apparently, taking a shower and cleaning up your room really does a number on cranky moods. I am almost dressed and ready to go out and face the world (yes, it's 4:30, shut up.)

I just have one question, which has been brewing for a while, and I've finally been able to sort of articulate while I was in the shower.

Why is it that in a country where it's become increasingly difficult to find any sort of decent job unless one has at least one college degree, people breathe easier when their leader has answered a question in a complete sentence without making any stupid mistakes? How is this possible? Why is it that the standards that apply to every other citizen and permanent resident do not apply in any form to the man in the oval office? Since when has it become right to be proud of a leader for not making an ass of himself in front of the whole world for a day? How is it that in a country that supposedly values education, a leader is elected who wouldn't know how to find the root of 4, if asked without prep? Who has been proven to lie, who works out of the pockets of major oil corporations, who has come out and told about 10% of his constituents that they are not guaranteed the same rights by the constitution as the rest of the country? How is this possible? And how is it possible that even after all this, he is STILL being supported by his country, and will more than likely win the upcoming elections?

What the hell has happened in the world that has allowed this to happen, to continue, to survive?

I had to do this. It's been building up for quite a while, and the article that [livejournal.com profile] rochefort linked to earlier today just put me over the edge. God. We have a dipshit in the office. Why can't people just finally fucking face it?
